Funny as hell, but that guy saw more ass than a toilet seat at a truck stop. True story.

Not my ass.

(I believe it though.)

I’m not judging.

So the THX AAA 887 seems to be the best value of the THX amps, huh?

…way to get back on topic buddy   soo…how about dem Bears… think they have a chance this year?? lol

But yes… I am mildly interested in hearing the 887…but my Phonitor XE makes it mute point =)

You may be surprised by the 887, or not. My guess is that the Phonitor would probably be comparable in sound quality to the RNDAC’s headphone output.

That’s a comparison I’d like to see. One would be able to use the dac portion off of the Fidelice so it would be Apples to Apples.

Maybe, I can convince @taronlissimore or @andrew to let me demo it =)

That campaign has a high probability of success.

Now that’s a comparison. Something tells me you’ve probably done this one already.

Great writeup.

the Drop THX AAA 789 is now regularly available - no more months waiting before shipping and delayed shipping

happy to have one of the last “Massdrop-Design” 789´s out of the may drop… by the way

the updated Drop design is a bit off for my taste, as are the monoprice(ugly finish) and other designs
the SP200 is in fact off - hahaa
though 3 years warranty would have been nice

the only thing about all the THX amps (except the Benchmark) … soundstage is not as wide - from what I read here and there - compared to some other higher end hf amps
has anybody compared staging, scaling, imaging, etc with some other amps in the sub 1k budget?
I saw a review on youtube with a comparison between the SP200, THX AAA 789 and the Benchmark THX unit - the reviewer found indeed minor differences

another question would be:
with the RME ADI 2 (v2) paired via XLR, the crossfeed functions, work also via line out mode? or do they work just with the RME´s own headphone or super IEM out?

Understand…no offense taken here at all!!

I used to frequent a site that if you didnt think about what you were going to write for several weeks on end…to try to help being lambasted for your writing style or thoughts…and its good to have a forum that folks can discuss their experiences in a positive light and not try to hang one another if you have a differing opinion etc…

To me its sharing the joy, not worrying about “gee I might have not used the right word in the right contex”…

Life is to short, enjoy the music while you can!

Note : If you want to get a feel for who “Alex” is I was asked to moderate the Headphone Mania circle at audiocircle.com…I have thousands of posts and reviews and experiences both retail and my DIY Stuff.

The latest one was Jim Hagermans “Tuba” parafeed amp that he asked me to put into my “amp” rotation…I dont have it here now, but had a wonderful few weeks with it…and its a marvelous amp, very different than the THX AAA.

You wont be disappointed with this amp…the negatives are the mechanical parts like the push buttons and gain knob…not bad and work well just on the less expensive side. Sonically its really close to perfection IMO…When stuff comes thru, good stuff its grand, lesser stuff will make your ears bleed. The detail retrieval is marvelous to me…even at low listening levels, live performances are very good as well…I think its being so “quiet” at listening levels allows this detail to really shine. I was listening to Jazz at the Pawnshop earlier and the mic used to capture the piano was so clear that I could visualize where it was on the piano!

If you into measurements, the possibility of a great audio experience this amp is a winner to me. Measurement arent the end all for sure, but if you can have both and not get hung up about numbers its a win/win…

One thought I did have on the lowering costs while providing great stuff…is it will make vendors of the high cost stuff (which can and is in many cases great) on their toes…competition is good for all IMO.

I listened the other day with a $20,000 music streamer/player and was floored how nice it “worked” with headphones plugged into it (Mark Levinson) and I could never justify spending this much $$$ on a device but the little Monoprice with its lesser construction, cosmetics still provides me with a very similar audio experience…

Schiit Magni Heresy is proof that manufacturers are taking notice (and probably a slight hit in sales) of high performing (measurement based), low cost units entrance into the market.

Options and competition are always a good thing.
