This is my first post on the headphones forum community. I like IEMs and have written a few reviews for a number of budget ChiFi gear on reddit and on HeadFi and was interested in this more laid back community. Currently my main gear is the HD600, Sony EX1000, and ER4SR.

@andrew mentioned in a post (apologies, I forget specifically) using the ER4-XR for travel, I believe, and I’ve been curious about them.
To my understanding the ‘SR’ are the more neutral version.
Anyhow, enjoy the forum.
IIRC the XR stands for Xtended Response. Basically, a subbass boost to the ER4SR (standard response) which makes it less lean in the bass region.
For travel though, I’d personally be a little unsure of using a triple-flange setup on an airplane. I find the deep insert itchy and the pressure differentials during travel can be uncomfortable. But I could see myself using the foams. My last flight I used the EX1000 which is quite open back and even then I could feel the change in pressure during the flight making me want to take them off for a rest every now and then.
I’ve never liked the triple flange, I always went with the foam.
Fortunately I hardly ever fly.

Hey there all!
I am super happy my friend @raindownthunda suggested this site, and really happy to have joined! I have been in the hobby for 3.5 years, and loving every second. I started off with the Schiit stack, of the Modi 2 Uber and Magni 2,and HD600. Since then, I have had several other headphones, and amps. I eventually found out about ZMF, Cavalli Audio, and Bottlehead and the rest is history. Currently, I have a Schiit Gungnir Multibit DAC, Cavalli Audio Liquid Platinum hybrid tube amp, and a Bottlehead Crack OTL amp. The headphones I own are ZMF Aeolus and Ori, MrSpeakers Alpha Prime, and the legendary Sennheiser HD650. I love a warm, wide, and thick sound with killer bass, and it was only natural to gravitate toward ZMF. I love listening with headphones and gear, and I love to learn and talk about them, as well.
