Just unboxed my DCA A2C from headphones.com, paid with ETH, shipped in two days, well packaged, what more can I ask for? Y’all rock. Thank you :fist:.

Lol I was wondering about that, 'cause some of those screen names sounded a little odd. Buckfast? Beyonce? Can’t tell, I was just simply startled a tad.

Right on, Dave.

Enjoy your new gear, and welcome to the jungle, I mean forum. :sunglasses:

Hey all! Happy to have been directed here (shout-out to Antdroid!)

I’ve been jamming to headphones for a long time now, making reviews for a short time but gaining popularity quickly. Here’s a link to my channel if you want to check me out! https://youtu.be/Guif1MMT0XA

Ohh cool!

Yeah I just joined. I’m Adnan from Indiana (well for now but originally NY). I’m a PhD student at Purdue in Computer Science.

I got into this hobby when I was in my grad school at Columbia in NY. For some reason I bought a headphone called HD600 (I heard some good things about it). And ohh boy, it has been a journey of a lifetime since that. Then my humble amp that I bought (someone said I need an amp) - was SMSL Sap2 (like 80 bucks). I was living in a teeny apartment, sharing it with three girls :stuck_out_tongue: . My wall was filled up with headphones the next semester as I blew away all my fellowship money on them (which was not a good idea cause I lost funding for one semester later - ouch!). Wait - I think I have a picture of that room - I’ll put it up. Then made some video reviews on Youtube from that tiny room. That was back in 2014. Back then I also got introduced to Dan Clark from MrSpeakers - wait - well everyone knows his name now tht the company rebranded itself. He would’ve loaned me an Ether (which was their latest back then - and I had the Alpha Primes which I loved) but I didn’t have a proper amp to drive it (he recommended the Mjolnir) so that fell though. Still, in touch with the man. He’s really great.

Fast forward to the present, I am making a transition to IEMs. Still, I really enjoy my Th900 and HE560. I have better amps but the ifi Micro BL is the convenient one for me. Also, my DAPs are the dx220 with amp 8, R6 Pro and Dx160 (I don’t like Fiio stuff, I used to own X5 mk3).

I am quite active on headfi too but I love the cozy atmosphere here. The ā€œfamilyā€ touch really makes a difference. Ohh and I love Resolve’s work on Youtube. I listened (yeah ā€œlistenedā€ as in I put myself to sleep listening to reviews) to the full channel last week.

When I’m not writing scientific ā€œpapers,ā€ I like to write non-fiction (keeping my MS in Columbia journalism school, relevant I guess, even though most time goes into writing IEEE computer science stuff). Some of my work at Huffpo are here: https://thewindbag.com

ermmm … it’s a pretty overkill of an intro isn’t it?

Cheers!

Here’s my room from 2014. I take better decisions now (not really). I still have my HD600 where it all started.

Great introduction Adnan!

This really is a great community, I am also a member of Head-fi, but once I found this Forum/Community, I hardly post over there anymore. Much better atmosphere over here.

Again welcome

Thank you SO MUCH for the warm welcome! Really appreciate it. And you would be right. I can already tell the sense of community goodwill! Loving the warmth. Hoping to be super active as I browse through everything.

Once again, it really means a lot. Thank you!

Yes, welcome. Rather a big intro than a little one. I can look anywhere to find things to talk to you about.
Even Big10, although why it’s called that now, I have no idea. IEEE used to be one of my clients when I was in publishing services. We printed (and composed) their journals.

Hey awesome! Real nice to e-meet you! Fun thing about sports since you mentioned the Big10, did you know to graduate from Columbia CS, you need to pass ā€œswimmingā€ but not algorithms (as a requirement)? Sorry about the off-topic

And again, thanks so much for the warm treatment. I feel blessed.
