Love this. You don’t see the stack that much anymore cause DAPs on there own are getting much much better.

Its mostly of the choice of flavor, since the N6ii is darker smoother and more musical, and the Hugo 2 is brighter, more resolving and powerful.
But i agree, it getting pretty close enough… But also the Hugo 2 need a good source… And the N6ii is the best i’ve heard.
I’m still thinking if i should just get a AK Sp2000 instead of a stack. But the issue of screen fading after a while, and battery life… Is a down breaker.

What issue with the screen fading after a while?

I’ve had mine for 6 months and have neither seen, read, nor been able to find anything about such an “issue”.

As for battery life vs. the Hugo 2 … the Hugo 2 always dies before the SP2000 (I own both).

I mean, i’ve read in the main AK SP2000 forum on head-fi few peoples says pixel die after went out of warranty. That doesn’t mean it will happen to you…
About the battery, removing and replacing the battery on this player its impossible even if you ask AK directly. I’m just saying at this price if you get a unit without warranty its a big lost of money if it goes wrong.
If you said everything is fine on your player that’s a good new and i’m really tempting to try one…

I can’t find any reference to dead pixels in the main SP2000 thread on Head-Fi (which could be due to issues with their search). And there are no in-the-wild SP2000 units that are out of warranty unless bought used.

Do you have a reference to A&K not being willing/able to replace batteries on their units?

Searching issue on their website, its not what it was as the beginning. I was trying to find the right page that i’ve read this issue. Couldn’t find it yet, but i remember when i was reading all the the reply, one or 2 guys get this problem. For the warranty im sure Ak will cover everything t’ill it will end.
For the battery life out of warranty, can’t confirm if they can do it… but it should be costly.

Yes, out of warranty battery replacement probably won’t be cheap.

It certainly isn’t for any of Chord’s products, either. As I recall they were asking for $200 for a battery replacement on Mojo, $300 or so for a Hugo. Not seen pricing on the Hugo 2, but doubt it’s much different.

Though this could of changed …

Yes sir. I do the stack at times as well. Have the Cypher labs Algorythm Trio portable tube amp that I use often with my AK JR and Campfire Atlas’s or Sony MDR Z7’s.

Well, I like the U12t enough to sell both my Andromedas…I already sold the Green model. Now to sell the Golds. Then @Torq threw a wrench in my plans to buy these with his purchase and subsequent thoughts on the UM Mest… so I ordered those before the discount disappeared. If I don’t like the Mest for whatever reason (Torq has yet to steer me wrong) than I’ll send them back and buy the U12t =)

The U12t as of right now is one of the most enjoyable listens on an IEM that I’ve had to date. It is buttery smooth and just a joy to run through all my random tracks. It is more U shaped but probably a shallow U I can’t really find any fault in it, as far as enjoy-ability goes. It can be a little bass heavy but to me at least not in a bloated or muddy way, just extra oomph and presence…it is actually quite fun, while not being overwhelming. As of right now it has that ZMF Aeolus feel in that it handles everything I throw at it and sound good doing it. Add in the fact you can tip roll and swap modules to dial in your sound signature of choice and you have a real winner on your hands.

Here is a picture with my Andros while I was a/b/x 'ng them:

Can’t remember, but have you tried the Campfire Atlas’s?
Would be nice if those IEMS could be thrown in with your nice A/B tests.
Anyhow. Looks like you are having a great time. Nice isolation strategies.

Those a great impressions and also what a fab picture. I know you like a good amount of Bass so I will bet those U12t’s really suit you. I can’t comment on the MEST as I have never come across them. Although as you state @Torq is a shrewd judge. I like a leaner sound myself so to be honest even though these are both great iems I probably wouldn’t go for them myself. Although without hearing them for myself I can never discount anything. It will be really interesting to see which ones you go for but I think I may know. I will tell you after you’ve decided which one I thought you’d pick. I won’t cheat either. I promise. :grinning:

Atlas only heard at demo/show scenario so I’m not comfortable talking about them.

Solaris is in my opinion king of the campfire line when it comes to sound…they are just not very comfortable to me.

U12t is probably the smoothest sounding IEM I’ve heard with excellent staging and all around performance. It is a Goldilocks sound of everything is just right. I have the UM MEST now and I find it more similar to the Solaris, but, that isn’t accurate as I prefer the MEST over it. More sparkle, air and holographic sound signature then any other IEM I’ve heard yet.

Okay. Very interesting. I actually haven’t heard much about MusicTeck’s MEST. This is an IEM that utilizes similar technologies as the Wraith with the EST drivers. Man! Tyler there are just too many amazing options out there and what is pretty interesting is that the MEST is less than half the price of the wraith. Well, you can put the MEST, tia trio, along with the UM 12t and Wraith for IEMS I’m dying to try.
I guess you could throw in the legend X as well.

Anyhow. Nice reply man. Thanks a lot. The MEST looks really amazing…just reading about there tech now.
