Yea, I have the HD 800 S models. Thanks for instructing me on 2nd grade punctuation.

As a former member of OASIS, The Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards, and myself somewhat of a “language twit” I would like to direct your attention to the tangential discussion in Robin Cover’s pages on the plural of DTDs which rapidly gets into use of the apostrophe, and the imminent Apostrolypse.

Congrats, my 800s arrive yesterday
Thanks and congratulations to you too
Have been wearing mine almost non stop since they arrived - except while I’ve been showering and sleeping
Hi Guys
I have a question and hope you can help me
I am looking for a nice sturdy travel case that will fit my Sennheiser HD 800 S without having to remove the cable(plugs) from the headphones.
Do you have any recommendations for a hard case that will fit the HD 800 S / HD 820?
If it is something available in Europe it would be great!
Thanks in advance!
I used this on a recent road trip. Tough enough to shove in your carry on or checked luggage but I wouldn’t check it at the airport separately. If you want something tougher, I’d look at an appropriately sized Pelican Case.
Thank you AudioTool, but space wise it seems as if you have to remove the plugs from the cups, when putting the headphones in the case?
I was looking for a case with a bit more padding and found these:
And a version a bit larger where it seems as if you can adjust the padding and make a bit more room in the bottom of the case:
Unfortunately they both ship from China and it will take several weeks for them to arrive
Does anyone have experience with the above cases or any alternatives that will fit / work?
A link to a Pelican case with the right size / padding would also be great
No there is space to leave the cables attached. That was a requirement for me as well. I am using Hart aftermarket cables, but I can’t imagine the stock cable connectors to be significantly longer.
It is a hard case, but there is flex in the middle of the front and back panels if you push on it with a fair amount of force. I’d estimate the stiffness is the same as a typical corrugated cardboard shipping box from Amazon.
Geekria sells a lot of headphone cases. You might check them out. But again, if you intend to check the cases as separate luggage you’ll need something far tougher. These are really meant to stuff in your carry on bag.
Excellent, thank you!
I also use the Hart Audio cables for my 800 S and 820 - A great match.
I would never check them in as separate luggage so it’s just to have something to use for transportation when I would want to bring good headphones
If you are looking at a tougher case, this Pelican case seems to be a dead ringer for the case my Radisson Audio Design RAD-0 shipped in. The foam can be trimmed and there is adequate room for cables, an Apple AirTag, your headphones and maybe a small inline DAC/AMP.
Curiously when it resolves it shows $59.95, but is actually $95 in black and $115 in Yellow
Brilliant, thank you!
Sennheiser HD 800 S Headphones are they still the King of Soundstage for the money in 2023?
Some Bullet points of my impressions see video for full impressions.
-Phenomenal Soundstage
-superb resolution and detail reproduction
-excellent imaging
-lightweight
-pairs well with tube amplifiers for my preferences I discuss in more details some of my favorites see the video
-lacks in sub-bass and mid-bass
-many users will want to use eq/tube amps/tone control to address the lack of bass and peaks in the treble.
Discuss more in-depth and synergistic pairings.
I just picked up a used pair on ebay. Stay away from the massdrop version, for the tuning is really bad. I have a pair of HD 6xx and i really love them! I swapped out the stock cable on the HD 6xx with a 16 core occ balanced cable. I feel it gives bass more punch. It also increased the Soundstage, or it might be due yo balanced connection. I am thinking about a cable upgrade for the HD 800s anyone have any recommendations?
I got my HD 800s! Wow amazing
Congrats!! Awesome headphone. Listening to them now
Thanks, I listen to it mostly, on my Fiio K9 ess Dac/Amp. I also listen to it directly on my portable DAP Sony nw-wm1z, the gold brick. Both sound amazing!
iFi’s xBass is a lifesaver on these. I finally got a pair for myself this year, and I find it hard to listen to anything else. The overall comfort and sound signature is hard to beat.
I’ve ordered HD800s two days ago, it will be delivered within a week. I’m upgrading from DT880 so expecting a considerable amount of jump in SQ .
And I do actually use my headphones heavily for gaming and movies too.
Can you share your EQ profile for HD800s?
