@MRHifiReviews - I have a couple of his books - Cyclops and Maroc. Watson is amazing.
Wish you good luck with in this situation!

Taron @taronlissimore
Yes he is a genius!
one of the oldschool guys
That he is! I have almost all of his books as well.
Because it’s Saturday Night, and I figure a few of you never saw this. And something reminded me of it.
Baby Yoda!!
What a nice present Jeremy!
Yes
Definitely a cool
gift!
That’s awesome.
It’s the first show my family watches together with great anticipation for the next episode!
Rare drive into the office this morning …
Rusty shit-box car in front of me effectively has its “engine” (random sharp pieces of metal being driven by a shagged-out old twisted elastic band) explode, scattering debris all over the road (I-90 bridge, so no where to go (unless you fancy an impromptu dive session) …
End result …
-
Two shredded rear tires (no idea how the front tires survived … maybe they haven’t and will fail as well).
-
Debris blown up through the rear bumper, killing the rear-facing cameras and PDC sensors and punching ragged holes through the bumper/surround.
-
Not knowing the PDC sensors were shot, backing up (slowly) with no cameras (in a car with zero rear visibility below the belt-line), until I crunch the lower rear bumper on a foot-high pole … at which point the “PDC Failure” warning comes on.
Tires are insured, but they’re huge, specialty, snow/winter tires, and there are like TWO left in the US until Pirelli do their next winter run. Both of these are at opposite ends of the country. And my summer tires, which I would have switched to come the end of March, are needing replacement … and I can’t get a set for nearly 4 weeks.
Bright side?
Poor sod behind me took FALLING debris on his hood and windshield and was lucky it didn’t come through the glass.
Bastard driving the rusty shit-box was stoned out of his goddamned mind (at 5:45 AM), barely able to stand and damn near dove off the side of the floating bridge.
In hindsight, maybe I shouldn’t have stopped the other driver from stopping him …
Got the car home, though … which was fun where the flat-bed it wound up on sat high enough it nearly took the roof off my car coming into the garage.
And … retail therapy …
Watch shopping …
That’s suck, and it’s a shit-ton of inconvenience.
But thank God you’re okay.
As nice as your car is (not sure what make/model, but from what I know of you, I know it’s very nice), it’s a car. Cars can be replaced (for the most part), but people can’t.
Glad you made it through.
My “winter” and “utility” car (i.e. what I was driving today) is a BMW X6M (actually faster round the “Ring” than my last Aston), which is fun to drive, has every feature I can think of and can carry enough stuff that my wife and I can sod off for a long diving weekend with no issues or breaks.
Leaving my summer/good-weather cars under wraps though.
Some random thoughts for the day (some may be related to actual events):
Potatoes make fries, chips and vodka …
It’s like all the other vegetables aren’t even trying.
Human Resources said I’m not allowed to make up names for my co-workers.
I hope Frankie Fuckface and Tania Twatwaffle are fucking happy now …
As Homer says, what magical animal could be responsible for bacon, ham, AND porkchops? (Starts around 0:50):
It’s a bloody good thing that pigs don’t know how DELICIOUS they are.
No how much of them, right down to the ears, snout and feet, are just downright nommable.
Bloody cannibals.
Oh well … if you can’t beat them … at least help them along!
what a bothersome …
from what could have happened, you all had still luck. One could have left the bridge.
My father used to have such experiances, a few years in a row, always just a few days before summer holidays. Once a Bus crahed into our car and another time I can remember, the driver in front of him got mixed up first with rear gear. He always got it managed as a mechanic, to let us go on our trips as planned. Later on he drove with the bycycle to work, the week before our holidays to trick murphys law.
In the end there are storys to tell and maybe you can laugh about how the potthead looked like or about other small details
OMG!!!
I just landed and can’t stop laughing… and my daughter won’t stop saying twatwaffle… I may be in trouble with the wife and daycare ![]()

Also, sad for your car, but, glad you’re ok!
D@mn Ian,
Thank God you are ok!
Sorry to hear about you car and the complete SNAFU of a morning!
Hopefully this does not interfere in anyway with your upcoming travels.
On the positive note (if there can be one in this situation) did you get a new watch?
Again glad you are ok
Take care!
