This was a great video! really enjoyed it…

I realize that much of the toxicity Currawong describes is, alas, an all-too-common kind of behavior, that it is not confined to the world of audio (just think of the world of sports fandom), and that online communication (be it on forums, youtube, or social media) may serve to magnify this toxicity or else make it more readily apparent and pervasive. But is it so prevalent and severe in other hobbies? Are those who love camera equipment and photography more inclined towards being argumentative than fossil hunters? Who’d win in a cage fight between philatelists and taxidermists? Are gongoozlers uncommonly mellow? Do coffee aficionados get especially riled up about their grinders? Do any of you see it in other hobbies? Is it something particularly prevalent in hobbies that involve specialist—and pricey—gear?

I see too much of this nonsense in my line of work. Headphones and audio and music are a respite from all that, which is why I have a hard time seeing how people get so worked up about what’s supposed to be fun. The video was a good reminder for us to be grateful for the civility here.

Universal. Just human nature. I watched a Youtube video about the hostility of KNITTING! My mother used to call this “wanting to be a big fish in a small pond” syndrome.

This particular forum is consciously and highly resistant to toxicity.

Agree. A colateral of too much collectivism in current days. Binarism. Cattle behavior. To name a few. :horse: :poop:

I have memorized this sentence below for a long time now. Nothing has changed. My favorite passage of the movie, btw:

Don’t anger the knitters. They have sharp needles.

And what a great movie it is! (I might have to watch it tonight)

For I minute I thought this was a music and drink pairing. But the “glass” was suspiciously tall.

I’m never going to hear Future Days by Pearl Jam the same after finishing The Last of Us 2. That game is an emotional hurricane. 10/10.

That game has a lot of swirling opinions on it. Some love it, some absolutely hate it. Makes you wonder if it’s mostly an online bubble/agenda.

He’s a real beauty! Cats are the best, invaluable complements for the listening experience too.

Here’s my 13-years-old companion, Milley. Got her from the animal shelter back when she was 6 months old. Abandoned, shy and scared of everything. Nowadays she’s the diva of the neighbourhood, and at home she always wants to hang out with me, so I got her a chair of her own next to me.

WOW!! I can tell you love her a lot. Hope no major problems occur down the road for when my own are that old. And I agree on them giving limitless time to take stress away. Awesome buddies.
