I loved BSG but the ending made me rage. Like… WTF was that…

+1 for favorite movie. Killer soundtrack too.

I finished that season of the Expanse… isn’t there a new season after that? I’m looking forward to checking it out!

That’s really interesting because I had the opposite reaction. The TV show was my favorite of the year and I couldn’t finish the movie because I found it so dull. Also loved the graphic novel when it first came out. But I respect your views.

And I’ll end on a happy note because I agree 100% with you. Other than the ending, that might be the best TV show ever, and let’s face it, not many shows are able to land that ending in the series finale.

My wife is a TV critic and she would moderate panels at Comic Con and go to celebrity parties every year while I stayed home to be “single parent” (no offence meant to real single parents, who are all heroes). For my 50th birthday, she took me with her. Best birthday present ever because I got to watch from up close as she moderated the BSG panel and then we went to a party with the cast and drank champagne.

Oh I get it. I have a friend who, despite being a huge sci fi and comic geek, did not care for the movie either because he said there was just way too many pointing outs of moral and social issues crammed into such a small package. Or something like that, I can only paraphrase.

I’m very jealous about the BSG part. That sounds like it was a blast! I love comic con. And star con. And most other cons. I’ve met Johnathan Frakes, who is a cool and funny dude. Claudia Christensen from Babylon 5 hugged me. That’s the highlights.

I really liked the movie. Thought it was underrated by a lot of people. Never read the graphic novel.

I absolutely loved the remake series up until the last season. I have never actually managed to finish it, I stopped watching with literally 3 episodes to go. I’ve been curious to watch them at times but I’ve heard so many complaints about it that I’ll just keep my fond memories intact for now.

I can’t remember the last scifi/fantasy show that I felt stuck the landing. There are probably some. I always thought that a lot of the Star Trek shows did well for a finale: TNG, DS9, Voyager.

The problem is that a lot of really interesting shows get cancelled before they get a chance to do anything.

Speaking of a TV series that got short shrift, maybe my al-time sci-fi series, “Firefly”. Over before it got started. The movie “Serenity” helped but I still felt cheated by Fox.

Firefly!! OMG yes! What a complete travesty that was. The casting, the writing, the story… it all worked so well. I have the series on disc but watching it makes me sad that it was cancelled.

I thought Serenity was a nice “finale” of sorts. Chiwetel Ejiofor as the villain… I love him as an actor so having him in this was just gold.

I saw an interview with Ron Glass (Shepherd) where he said
“I look forward to the day when I can look back at Firefly without crying”.

Pretty much sums it up.

I have the movie on 4K and the series on Blu-ray. The characters were perfectly cast, I especially got a kick out of Jayne. They managed to get some quality supporting actors for many of their stories. The story line was sooo pregnant with possibilities and with Nathan Fillion leading the way it could have been as much fun as it was intriguing. I remember an interview with Nathan Fillion, something to the effect that if he were to hit the lottery big for a lot of money he’d buy the rights from Fox and resuscitate the series. Ah well.

If you can get past the heavy use of puppets and the early episodes, Farscape became really twisted. The relationship between the hero Chichton and Scorpius…oh boy…

Thats another really good one. So many shows I havent thought about in a while! Did you watch the post series movie?

I havent seen it in quite some time. I wonder if it aged well?

Im reluctant go and rewatch a lot of my old favourites as Im worried I might start to find faults in them and ruin my cherished recollections.

I agree, Farscape was an amazingly original sci fi series, despite lack of support from the Sci-Fi channel that caused an early cancellation. Luckily the production company was able to get enough financing to finish the story off in a separate mini series. I don’t remember being angry at the finale (although my memory could be colored by the fact that I was so relieved that they were able to have a real ending) so I think this is an example of sticking the landing.

These definitely stuck the landing. :+1:t2:

LOL!!! Apple introduced the iPhone Notch 12 Pro and Notch Max.

The screen cutout is massive! You barely see any photos of the screen, cuz you can tell they’re trying to hide it. Fail.

I refuse to take any more crap from Apple fanbois about the tiny hole in my display. Suck it.

No one has commented on the new Homepod mini? I have two of the original homepods… for wife reasons because the Sonos crapped itself.

They aint worth the money. The sonos was a better balanced sound.

Notch size as % of viewable area might become a measurable thing.

Is it actually called the iPhone 12 mini? I doubt it has a mini impact on the bank account.

Agreed. Steve J would have gone with square root of 12. I can’t find that symbol on my Windows keyboard!
