You’re not alone Roark. There are other Elrog’s quietly living amongst us.
And the Elrog 5U4G photography award goes to… @Audiophool !
Yes indeed, beautiful photo!
Thanks. Am I disqualified though … I snuck my 300bs into the 5U4G discussion
Tonight I’m spending some time with the Folkvangr/800s. What a great pairing!
This is a pairing I want to get around to trying (along with the Folkvangr/ATH-ADX5000), though I’m unsure if I need to given my Folkvangr/Atrium Open pairing.
Regards,
Vic
I’m almost inclined to say the Elrog glow doesn’t even really count as actual “tube glow”, because it’s more like a filament they add to make light rather than the red-hot glowing element in traditional tubes.
But we’ll still allow it.
Yeah, maybe not. I’ve not heard an Atrium…yet. I love the huge holographic sound they give. Great to kick back and relax with.
Those are great photos!
I wonder what someone outside of our little hobby here would think these were pictures of if you gave them no context on what they are… i.e. not say what they are (obviously), and no hints that they are audio related.
It could be a fun experiment
These images of the FV tubes stand on their own, they are interesting compositions.
Interesting. A few years ago I would have had no idea what they were. I’m not sure what I would have guessed….probably some kind of scientific equipment or computer of some sort.

The camera picks up a lot more blue than is visible with the eye. As they’re warming up, you can see it shifting and changing like the Northern Lights.
I bet it sounds amazing! I like the way the tubes glow. The VE iems are supposed to be very good, although i have never had a chance to demo. The Head=fi group always rates them as excellent.
Cheers,
Gary
Are you thinking of Vision Ears or Venture Electronics? There are two different threads with the same initials!
What other IEMs do you run this pairing with? I’d be curious for more tube x IEMs impressions but they aren’t that common.
One of the reasons why I like the iFi Go Blu so much is because it has a tubey sound.
Hey Sebastian, on almost every IEM I have I run them trough the Echo to see how they do. Some sets get boosted in the bass, other get brighter. Some sets just get more euphonic and musical, Penon Serial is this way.
Ventrure Electronics, is what I’m talking about. Tried a few of the offerings, got lured in when Wild Lee from VE arranged a gift pack for me to share impressions on and on local meets.
Their mid tier offerings Zen 3.0 is warm sounding with spectacular mids and treble that also have some low end. Asura 3.0 is also superb, but is leaner sounding with larger soundstage.
Both of them is high impedance and is perfect for tube amps. Other than that I mostly use my Echo for T1 Gen 2 and ZMF VO.
Few that talk about VE, but after having tested 6 of their earbuds and 2 IEMs I can not understand why as they are at TOTL level. I would even say that some of their more low costing buds as Monk SM and Monk Master compete with Serratus.
Hi! I’m new to the forum but talk audio in a few other places on the interwebs. Here’s my Stratus showing off that sweet sweet tube glow.
Gorgeous photo! Congrats.
Welcome! What’s the whole chain looking like?
