Many good suggestions above, here’s one more: from Johann Johannsson’s (RIP) Orphee
Many years ago in a galaxy far away I was a college and very briefly professional place kicker. This was what I would listen to pre-game. Got me a lot strange looks which is saying a lot given how kickers are looked upon by teammates…
This album always relaxes me.
Sigur Ros
Oh man! Good one! I saw them live back in the day in a small venue and they played the Ágætis byrjun album, and man that was an experience I will never forget. Truly magical, being about 20 feet away from Jonsi, for the whole concert. It is hard to believe that was 20 years ago . . .
I remember hearing Ágætis Byrjun for the first time in a record store and feeling mesmerized. I immediately purchased the album on the spot.
Even though it’s gibberish, it really resonates…
Good stuff.
That is awesome Wes!
It is an experience! I have been lucky to see them a few times, small little club in DC called the 9:30 Club, in a theater with an accompanying orchestra, and recently in an opera house. Magical is right description for sure!
Yeah, I definitely have no idea what he is singing in his mother tongue. It just blends as another instrument in the wall of music.
I love listening to Ben Howard. It makes me feel peaceful and relaxed.
It is piano music that makes me feel completely relaxed.
Anything in particular?
That’s very nice. I’m not surprised to see that it was recorded in Rio, given the makeup of the orchestra, particularly the drums.
Right now listening to:
The Gentle Storm - "The Diary"
(73) THE GENTLE STORM - Shores Of India (OFFICIAL VIDEO) - YouTube
(73) THE GENTLE STORM - Heart Of Amsterdam (OFFICIAL VIDEO) - YouTube
I just love Anneke von Giersbergen!
That is a nice performance!
I read this before clicking the link and was expecting carnival makeup and feathers
Just plugged in the Schiit Mjolnir with Bifrost 2 and Audeze lcd-x listening to The National: I am Easy to Find. Pretty relaxing, kind of dark, unique in my opinion.
This is a fantastic thread, and I’ve been listening to a bunch of things you all have shared.
Just for something completely different:
When anxiety gets out of hand, minimalist modern classical can help me relax. The relentless repetition is very soothing to me.
Things to try:
(I prefer the 1979 recording, but I’m a snob)
Wow! This is a chill ride. Thanks for sharing!
