Violator is so cool have to put the CD back in my car rotation - thank you for the reminder
Love Buena Vista Social Club
here is another Album beeing relaxed with a melancholic tendency
I love to listen with my wife and dog on the sofa
and for the fun/melancholic part nothing is better singing loud along with Gregg “Someday We’ll know” … “I’m speeding by the place that I met you- for the ninety seventh time tonight…”
or in “I Hope I Didn’t Just Give Away the Ending”
“I burned my Beatles records, because she hated number nine” - love it! hahaa
listened also to the Gondwana Resiliente from the other thread - great!
somehow can’t copy paste from Tidal on my Android phone
Have been exploring deadmau5, and listening to some of the orchestral versions. Going through some of the background videos, I came across this very insightful segment.
The commentary about recorded vs live from an electronic master musician is revealing.
I few weeks ago my wife and I took our kids to watch The Lion King (2019) and they were so in love that today the watched at home, for third time, the original movie ( 1994) and I can stop playing the incredible and beautiful score in my head, an amazing Hans Zimmer’s composition . The stampede theme ( it is also called that way in the albums) is my favorite ( I know… weird), more female voices in the 1994 record and longer with female and male voices in the 2019 soundtrack.
I had the pleasure to be in one of the concerts of this tour, the one at Radio City in NY and is one of those you wanna buy another ticket for next day show when the concert ends.
While listening to the new Tool album, and thoroughly enjoying it, Tidal recommended to me the new Leprous single “Below”. What a great track for headphones! Even if it’s a bit melodramatic for my taste.
Sometimes I like to do a one-song playlist. One song, many artists and interpretations. It can be very instructive. Pick a good, solid standard that has been done my many. For example -
Route 66
Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend
Last night, it was Stardust. Glorious song, jazz, standard, country, vocal, instrumental.
Frank Sinatra, of course, but also
Rod Stewart
Ringo Star
Ella Fitzgerald
Duke Ellington
Benny Goodman
BOTH of the Marsalis’
Glen Miller
Tommy Dorsey
Dave Brubeck
Wes Montgomery
And many many more.
I’ve just put Tidal back on as a month long trial and have downloaded the SANTANA Africa Speaks album. What a treat it’s been listening to this. Very , very good.
Leprous is awesome ! I’m not sure if you’ve heard of Haken, they’re also from the UK. They have a Dream Theater kind of vibe, but with a different twist. I would recommend these songs to you : “Celestial Elixir”, “Aquarium”, “Nocturnal Conspiracy”, “Visions” and “Cockroach King”.
TesseracT is also something to look into if you enjoy Djent and progressive metal in general. Happy listening !
