My thought exactly! hard to tell which is of greater interest for @hnordberg!
Just a short follow-up. Four days, the time it took to handle this beast. Now, it is all bliss and the shout is just a memory. And that is without any EQ.
Measurements will never be able to reproduce the Fletcher–Munson curves perception. Also, I have been in this hobby long enough to start judging a transducer only after my ears got adjusted to its FR. And I know your comment was towards this direction.
Cheers.
Yeah I just wanted to help and I’m so glad to hear the tuning is with in a range that you can happily adjust to.
Really glad to hear it and I’m really hoping to try them soon!
I’m definitely getting back into portable audio.
Came in way sooner than originally estimated. Listening impressions later, but for now, I’d say they look awesome and are super duper light and comfy.
Interesting addition. I look forward to hearing why you chose these

I chose this LifePO4 power supply because it is still native battery power without regulation, and the charging circuit is automatic/inaudible.
Before, I was having to take out 12(!) batteries, externally charge them, then reinsert them before listening sessions.
This 6.6V LifePO4 supply (26650 batteries) replaces the four green18650 batteries, and the UcPure supercaps replace the eight Eneloop NiCad batteries.
Nope, doesn’t exist. The “5V” Li battery supplies out there are all done via regulators and do not sound nearly as clear as native batteries, e.g. the 8 eneloop pack in photo above.
Either that or the UcPure supercap supply, but has to be DIY. Actually, you can buy something similar to UcPure pre-made, but they are $$$
I guess I’ll have to wonder for a bit - I’m taking this box to work to open it because I have a place for what I suspect is inside.
I connected it all up, it works. Don’t know why I got those cables. I wanted one meter, didn’t remember that I had some 1.5m Pangea’s just sitting around. I have a strict $200 limit for snake oil.
But they are nicely made and the company seems to have a nice and long reputation. They purport to have a thick silver coating, and other silver plated copper cables have worked well for me in the past. I say purport as they are covered with sleeving and I’m not cutting them up to see that they are what they say they are.
Of course, I’ll never know how they sound, as I upgraded from my old iFi xDSD with a failing battery to the Schiit Modi Multibit. And when you change two things at the same time, if you hear a difference, you can’t be certain what contributes to it. So I’ll happily remain blissfully ignorant and enjoy the sound.
But not the CEs and training crap I do when I’m listening.
Top pic copied from the Schiit Modi Multibit thread. Cables in that are the aforementioned Pangeas. The DH Labs Silver Sonics took their place when I got them out of the pack.
I think @PaisleyUnderground uses DH Silver Sonic also.
Dropped this evening, new Mojo 2.
As much as I love the sound of the Mojo that UI annoys and it’s nice to know the Mojo 2 continues that trend and takes it up a notch but the funtionality available with that SQ at that price is rather good.
Violectric V590 in the house, and a new stand from midwinter design works in a Manzanita burl & resin.
The Starlett has arrived, and it is superb. I acquired a used Stratus v3 earlier this year that has taken me on many sublime musical journeys, but this one is special because it has that new amp smell. Now the challenge will be getting any work done with this sitting on my desk!
Coral Holey Basket 3.5" Alnico drivers arrived, a natural match to go with 12" Philips Alnico drivers above Actually, I hooked them up without any baffles and getting AKG K1000 vibes. I wonder if making AKG K1000 style headphones was ever tried…
Whoa, what’s the wood on that Caldera Closed?
