I’ve seen people say these headphones scale into infinity. They showed the benefits of the CTH + SDAC and Asgard 3 + Modi Multibit every bit as well as an Elex and ZMF Atticus. If the 6XX does the same with the Bifrost 2, I’ll eat my shoe. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

New set of power tubes

Got some tubes in the mail! Takatsuki 274B rectifier and EML 2A3 Solid Plates Power Tubes. I prefer the solid plates more powerful and balanced sound presentation over the mesh but prefer the glow of the mesh!

Nice! Please share your impressions and how they perform when compared to the EML 2A3 Mesh when you get chance.

Basically the same but went mesh.
The new power tubes I got are good.
I was thinking I should have gotten the solid over the mesh.

Yeah we’ve got the same kind of tubes, to be honest there are not many options out there for not NOS Power Tubes for the WA33 to get the best out of the amplifier. TK274B is the best rectifier and the KR2A3 HP are the best power tubes and the EML 2A3 Solid and Mesh are the second best and the difference is marginal to my ears to justify the $1k price difference… You can probably contact George and try to return the Mesh and get the Solid Plates.

Not much glow from the big tubes.

I’d feel bad returning used tubes but I might try.

Well, you can always buy a set of Solid Plates for another $1.5k. I’d suggest you to read some comparisons online and make a decision based on that (maybe?). There’s always a risk of Solid Plates ending up not being your preference…I was fortunate enough to have had the chance to try both and preferred the Solid Plates, and they’re slightly cheaper, more reliable and dead quiet straight out of the box. Lots of plusses!

The my mesh are dead silent with the 1266 and HEDD. Power output doesn’t seem less then the stock tubes. If I get set of solid plates now while I have the money I won’t have to purchase later. Only thing that sucks is that 6c45 only has two options.

Yeah I agree on the lack of options for the 6C45 and apparently they’re the ones with the most impact on the sound as driver tubes. Shame!

I was referring to noise using efficient cans such as Utopia and Verite Closed. I don’t think you’ll hear noise with the 1266, HEDD, Susvara or any hard to drive cans on any decently designed and implemented amp unless you’ve some really bad RFI/EMI or a super noisy AC Line.

I ordered camphor Verite open so I’m hoping there is no hiss or hum. With my RAD no issues of noise.
