Many thanks for your suggestion.
I have a custom built SET tube amp here. Should pair well. I do have the Modius already, and a Cayin IHA-6 arriving this week. Week of packages!
Whilst I wait for my Cayin IHA-6, I’ve been kindly loaned this to try. I hope it hasn’t ruined my first impressions of the Cayin…
Can you keep that one instead?
Keep what one?
It…it never arrived…damn AusPost, must’ve lost it…
Cursed unreliable Post…
Damned shame.
Yeah, real shame.
Hey, asking for a friend, how do I scrub the internet to ensure certain photos never re-surface? For a friend. He is asking.
Any Aeolus peeps with EQ settings? 1.5 and 4k tweaks?
Dude, I put SR Orange fuses in the Cayin Stack. Really like the amp. It responds well to cables and tweeks. For the price its a steal if you want to start upgrading cables tweeks and software.
$1000 AUD new here too! (720 USD, delivered)
Arriving soon
Well it arrived. Plugged in, sounds excellent, punchy, clear, lovely.
Hour later right cup static builds and builds, then pops and crackles, goes back to normal. Then repeat that randomly as its on. Welp. Back to the store for refund. Between that and a mates new Cayin having issues recently too I’m a bit skeptical now.
Might find something else. Maybe German, Japan or USA made.
Damn…
Sorry to hear that.
The cayin amp did this?
Yeah.
Occurs in both XLR and SE outputs. Multiple headphones. Multiple power outlets through the house (fairly new house, no problems with any other amp), and all with no inputs attacehed.
Something inside f’d up in the right channel.
Real shame. Has a lot going for it, but their QC and reliability has been tainted for me now, with this and a mates, and a few other readings.
Back to drawing board!
Solid state. It’s a busted cap or something
Thanks for the tips. I’d call your method “new headphone whispering.” I’d be curious if your technique for cooking a steak is similar (reverse sear, sous vide, repeated flip).
Funny message! My method for cooking a steak is all wrong, nothing like my burn-in techniques: heat way too high, cook as fast as possible, burning the hell out of it if possible. I can turn the tenderest cut of steak into shoe leather in ~10".
Ahh, but we know you have it in you! Once your palate gets as much attention/scrutiny as your ears!
Sear prior to cooking sous vide? Sacrilege!!!
Controversial topic ha! I’m generally a purist and avoid unnecessary complexity!
