ZMF Aeolus - Open-Back Dynamic Headphone - Official Thread

My “impress people with minimal effort” steak includes a sauce made with sauteed shallots, heavy cream and a splash of red wine. Seems like a fancy steakhouse, took me 5 minutes.

Also butter, raisins, port and brown sugar simmered for like 5 minutes and poured over a scoop of ice cream. Seems gourmet…but you know it’s not because I made it..

Sous vide is good!

Charring after sous vide and you’ve got some great meat. :yum:

I’ve had sous vide carne asada that was BOMB. But it did require that open flame to finish it off… :man_shrugging:t4:

Got these a month ago. I only can say good stuff about them and the Camphor Burl is amazing. I was considering also Verite C, and I’ll have a demo pair to listen after the month changes. I’m scared if they are better and I need a pair also. :upside_down_face:

@MRHifiReviews did a stellar review on these, it was one of my decisions that made me buy them, @metal571 m had also a nice view. I’m thinking the same about these and technical performance is pretty good, atleast my small experience with cheaper HP’s and Ether CX that are my second pair atm.

@TylersEclectic Can I ask your opinion with these and your Purple People Eater’s, what you feel about both of them now that you’ve had them for a while?

How I feel about them… well, I think the VCs are more dynamic, way better imaging and detail… The Aeolus is still one of my top recommendations for general all-arounder that most people could end at =)

I think of the Aeolus compared to the Verites as the Focal Clears are to the Focal Utopia/Stellia

VC has bigger stage as well… Aeolus is warmer/more romantic. Both are fantastic… Honestly don’t think you can go wrong with a ZMF or Focal for that matter

Well, this is not gonna help for waiting VC. There may be a chance then that a factory worker has to make money in coming months. Nice to have a chance to listen them. Thanks for opinion, I aprreciate it! Meanwhile, Aeolus are great when you only know the below 2k price.

Edit: I meant it doesn’t help my need for gear, otherwise yes.

That’s a good comparison. On a similar topic, if I already have the Focal Elex (similar tonality to the Clear), would you personally recommend the Aelous or the Auteur for a complimentary headphone? The biocellulose driver of the Auteur has me intrigued, but I don’t want a headphone that sounds too similar to my Elex. Thanks in advance!

Well either will be different from the Elex… so go with what you want lol

I’m not sure who told you the Elex sounds like a Clear but that’s very far off from my experience. Have both. o___O

Focal sounds like Focal. That’s just how it is.

I have both too. Very different experience!

I’m confused. Did you mean to say “not sure who told you the Auteur sounds like a Clear?” I meant the Elex has a similar tonality as the Clear.

You have an Elex and Clear or an Auteur and one of the Focals?

Elex and Clear. Own those two. They don’t sound anything alike.

I promise none of the ZMF line sounds similar to any of the Focals.

Okay good to know - thanks for the clarification.

Omg this. Thank you.

Yeah, ZMF is completely different from the Focals… I like to use Focal as a perspective of capabilities when comparing to ZMF. But that is more to show the difference between say the Aeolus to the Verite… I.e. Aeolus is in the same performance bracket as the Clear…not sounds similar to the Clear. Same with Verite and Utopia/Stellia
