Hi,

I have a buddy who just got his first proper high end headphone - the Audeze LCD- X and absolutely loves it.

We’re looking for something that provides a little different flavor for his second purchase.

Currently, we are between the 109 Pro and the ZMF Aeolus.

Frankly, I can’t discount him from choosing one or the another because I love both! Appreciate the insight.

That’s so squaresville.

If you go with Aeolus then hit me up. I have two and would be willing to part with my stabilized set.
I’m definitely keeping my camphor burl.

Do you guys think it would be possible to drive Aelous to an acceptable extent with a portable enough DAC/amp? Preferably something that can be powered by USB. Hopefully I’m not being to blasphemous here, but I don’t have a capacity for a bigger solution as I change locations often.

I run mine off an iFi Gryphon using the balanced output and they sound great.

That’s reassuring to hear. Though this one costs like half an Aelous

Wondering if something like iFi hip-dac 2 could be enough.

What do you think about Mojo 2?

How much should I sell these Cocobolo Aeolus for?

$29.95 to me, of course. Seriously though, those are gorgeous. The future owner is in for a treat!

I’m with Earmuffs. Start at $1K, and then start coming down if nobody buys them.

Probably the most amazing Cocobolo set I’ve ever seen. You may even regret letting them go!

Greetings, I’m new to the ZMF community as I just acquired an Aeolus LTD Bocote pair. I love the wood and the sound it produces. But, I had my right earcup fall into my lap. I think it’s the rod that screws into the frame that won’t keep tight. I looked at some videos and possibly some loctite might remedy this?
How can you tell if a new rod is needed? Or set screw? See pics

Thanks for your input and suggestions.

Cheers

That screw looks extremely short, while the threads are ragged, badly worn, and have certainly loosened. I don’t think they’d stay in place for long. While I’m a fan of blue Loctite for this need (or Vibra-Tite for stuff that will vibrate in use), I don’t think it’ll fix the issue.

I’d contact ZMF and get a new part.

EDIT: There’s chance the mirror-image threads in the hole are just as bad and you may need a new yoke too.

Thank you, I’m not sure what a new rod part(screw section) looks like, but I’ll take your advice and contact ZMF. Hopefully no yoke is needed. Thank you for your help and advice.
My first ZMF product and really don’t know much about them construction wise.

Best!

I had the same thing happen to my AC last week and contacted support. Here’s the guidance in case it’s helpful:

As long as the threads appear to be in good condition, I would first recommend reapplying some thread locker to see if that resolves the issue, You will want to fully remove the rods, apply some Vibra-Tite VC3 thread locker to the threads of the rods, allow it to dry for 25 mins, and then reinstall the rods. We find this usually fixes the issue. I have linked our recommended thread locker below.

I believe I’ll try the loctite option first, as I’m awaiting a response from ZMF also. Thank you too for your help and support.
