Wow, those are quite stunning! Everytime I see one posted here, I’m impressed.
If you don’t me asking, why did you choose the Atrium as your first pair of ZMFs and what other headphones do you own?
Regards,
Vic

I’ve been wanting a ZMF for awhile now and was actually planning on getting a VC during the hot cup event, the Peacock was what I liked the most, but decided on the atrium because I’ve heard a lot of positive impressions from people I trust and I don’t really need a closed back at the moment.
I’ve heard plenty of the TOTL headphones and enjoy some of those but have started to prefer a fun sound over just hearing all the detail. The headphones that I own and use currently (in a rough order of most to least favorite) are 1266 TC, LCD-4, Susvara, 800S, LCD-5.
I really like the look and construction of the ZMF headphones and am hoping that this Atrium will be a fun headphone to use when I just want to relax and enjoy the music.
I spoke with Thomas too, he’s a good guy and I’m glad it all got cleared up. The headphone we are shipping in the next few days will be for you so at least you’ll have it soon.
Great to see so many wood variations. Looking forward to reading more impressions and comparisons in the coming months.
I’ve been using this since day 1 and have no inclination to put my other headphones back into rotation including the Verite which I’ve main for the past few years. Having heard a few setups the past few months, I can comfortably say I’ve reached a state of nirvana in this hobby with my current setup and has lost all impulse upgrade anything. It’s been a while since I last have this feeling and probably the right time to move on. Will stick around to read impressions but I’ve lost all desire to try anymore gear.
Might consider selling my backup amp and headphones and stick to one setup but since I do not enjoy the process of selling away gear I’ll just keep them for now.
My set arrived today and I’m blown away with how good they look in person. The resin has a depth that does not quite come across on camera but man these are stunning, so happy right now!
Gorgeous. Congrats man!
Oh my, congratz! Good stainless steel combo looks too. All these pictures just making the wait harder
Those are beautiful. If they were described to me without pics, I would have said something like “gross” or “no thank you”. But they are stunning. The finish looks really deep in pics. Is it dramatically deeper in person?
HOW COOL! Love them
/jealous
Congratulations!
Hope they sound as good as they look! I still haven’t heard the Atrium …
Very tempted to try to buy them from you (with my incoming set as part of the deal …).
Looks like the lovechild of an Atrium and a RAD-0. Congratz!
Maybe a little, definitely deeper looking than I thought they would be after seeing them on the ZMF website. When they catch the light they definitely seem to have a lot of layers to them especially on the bottom towards the cable.
Those are some very impressive looking headphones - based upon what you’ve described and what I’ve seen in other resin objects, photos don’t do it justice. Which cables are you using and how are they?
Regards,
Vic
Yeah the photos don’t do it justice for sure. The cable I have on it is a Norne Silvergarde S3-C but I have a cable on order from Viking Weave Cables that should match this Atrium nicely. It will be using their copper wiring (Fehu) that has a purple sleeving on it and one of their special splitters that has a rainbow look to it.
The Atriums sound nice so far but only have a couple hours on them. Sort of remind me of the LCD-4 but with a bigger stage and more extended treble. The mids caught my attention when I put them on and first listened especially with female vocals. The bass response is stronger than I was expecting too, these can really rumble and slam.
Yes they do rumble and slam indeed! They also have a really seductive midrange. Enjoy
Oh my word. What a stunning psir of headphones. Congratulations.
Wow! Beautiful! I had the Rad-0 on my list because of the art/sound combo, but never knew there were all of these custom options on the ZMFs. Is there a Custom option somewhere on their website that I’m not seeing? I think I may have figured out my next purchase to save up for…
There’s no custom option for the cups on the website.
All the pretty/unusual colorings you see are part of special, limited, releases. The last one was the “Hot Cup Summer” event, but they usually have these sorts of things available as part of “ZMF November”.
It’s worth bearing in mind that they sell out quickly.
So, you choose your favorites when Zach posts them, usually a few days before ordering goes live, and then you hope you’re fast enough to buy them before someone else snags them.
…
If you go with the Magnesium Chassis option, where it’s available, there are usually multiple color options to choose from there. The same with the Rods and Grilles. Though not all colors are necessarily available for all models of headphone.
I think they’ve also changed the painting process so the Mg chassis are much more durable regarding paint chipping.
I never had an issue with my Mg chassis VO but enough reports were out there that it was a good move by Zach to improve on this area.
