Australian orders cop USPS. So it’ll just travel around the US for a few months catching the sights, then maybe eventually get on some sort of international flight.
Partly, it’s because I’m a bastard. But mostly … it’s because I’m a bastard.
Imagine a white washed set with a silver infused stabilising agent/epoxy.
You’ll have to be patient…mine’s been in “sanding and finishing” for a month…
I was on the list about 2 months for my ZMF and there was very little movement at all for anyone on it wth me. All of a sudden they disappeared off the list. Emailed Zach and he said they were shipped. So I didnt even get a sanding and finishing stage!
Just saying that the lists are probably not indicative of much other than that you will get a headphone at some point.
He mentioned in another thread, that they were so busy making headphones and the business no one had, had the time to update the sheets lol… when you make things as awesome as they do and the masses find out… things can get hard to scale with demand lol… but I think they have it under control!
I’d rather him be making the headphones than making sure some google list is updated and accurate!!
The wait numbers for some of his cans can be pretty deep. Last summer it was over 30 for the Aeolus at one point. When I was on the list for an Auteur it always seemed to stay steady around 6-8.
They have a pretty good QC process as well from what I can gather so that slows throughput too.
Lol 30. I started off number 95 for the Verite C.
Good Lord!!!
Well at least it keeps him in business.
How long was the wait?
You’re all spoiled.
I pre-ordered my Atticus and Eikon at RMAF when they were first announced (October), and if memory serves they, shipped in Feb.
Current turnaround time is fantastic. Worth the wait.
I got my Verite in 6 weeks. If I had to wait for 12 weeks, I would. It’s still worth the wait in my opinion.
What’s also a bit odd is that orders that came in weeks after mine are in “assembly” already. I’m sure the sheet is not all that accurate.
The wait for the VC was about 3.5 months, but this is due to the fact that it was ordered at launch near the holiday season. Zach and co fulfilled a shitton of orders in that time. I am just about to open my headphones, so looking forward to that.
ZMF recommends 200 hrs burn-in; how do you experienced ZMF owners approach this:
-straight to burn-in when they arrieve and then wait 8 days before using them or how have you handled the burn-in, if you had one?
I went from an HD600 as my best hp straight to the VC. 200 hrs? No way I am waiting that much. I put it on and enjoyed the hell out of it for the first 3 hours. It was a huge step up across the board.
Now it’s burning in overnight on pink noise and will do so with various different sounds and music over the next few days while I am not listening. This way I can actually hear what difference burn in makes and still enjoy it while I can. I can now say with confidence that a ZMF sounds fantastic even out of the box.
- Straight burn-in for me. The sound signature is so different from the other two headphones I have, there’s no point of waiting for 8 days to enjoy it.
- It’s been said that burn in on Verite has small effect on the sound. Now, there’s no way for me to know if this is true but I sure already like the sound out of the box. So it doesn’t matter for me to begin with.
- Last but not least is more like personal circumstance. I was upgrading to a completely different chain of DAC and tube amp. I didn’t have 8 days to waste before testing new tubes.
- This one is related to no. 3, leaving a tube amp running non-stop for a long period of time is probably dangerous. Running it conservatively for 200 hrs would take more than just 8 days
I’m curious with what others think and has done though
Ain’t nobody got time for no 200 hour burn-in session, especially with new-toy-syndrome drilling a hole in their brains.
I listen to it, let it play stuff over night, then listen some more… rinse and repeat.
I get why people use pink noise. It’s flexing the whole FR ranges’ muscles all at once. However, I don’t listen to pink noise for enjoyment, and find all of my headphones develop more attitude when burned in using Stevie Ray Vaughn and ZZ Top.
Just listened to my Autuer, no burn in.
If I put on a new headphone and dont like the sound then burn in won’t save it for me so I just listen to them. I dont feel burn in will effect the sound in a huge way and if so then most people find it for the better (does burn in ever make a headphone/speaker worse??).
The one thing that has always bugged me about burn is why dont companies have their drivers burnt in before selling them? Maybe there is a good reason for not doing it, dont know. However, Zach knows more about headphones then I do by a huge margin so if he says to do it then who the heck am I. Plus I’m the guy who leaves his Magni3 on at all times cause it may sound better warmed up, so chew on that…
Sounds like the concensus is to dive in and start using them, burn if possible, and then just enjoy the trip it is to have a ZMF HP
Can’t wait to get my Aoelus
