I gotta get me a pair, but that price…
I just run the strip showing leg to get the cash I need for my headphone addiction…
I’m joking please don’t do this lol
True but the Eikon’s have very little sound leakage, I use mine in my living room with my wife 10ft away, and she can’t hear what I’m listening to. When I first got them I checked the leakage several times because they didn’t sound closed.
You just underlined why the Eikon is my next HP
3 days late to the party but I though it was forum policy not to mention "that’ site… Perhaps my noise floor is too high.
New ZMF owner. Couldn’t decide between the Verite, Aeolus, or Auteur so figured I would just get all three. Got the Verite in Purple Heart, Aeolus in Camphor Burl, and Auteur in Zebrawood. So far I think I am enjoying the Aeolus the most, it just has such a fun sound signature for the genres that I enjoy. The Verite has been a lot of fun to enjoy some of my favorite tracks and hear them to their fullest. As far as looks I cant get over how the Auteur looks with Zebrawood and rose gold.
That’s awesome. I love the contrasting stands as well.
Thank you! I have spent a good amount of time just admiring them. They really are an amazing product.
From the looks dept I like how your Auteur turned out. Is that Zebrawood? Whats the grill colour? Hard to tell as it seems to be reflecting the purpleheart.
Oh wow. Simply stunning. I would be torn in which set to reach for. Enjoy.
They look stunning, nothing less but stunning
DAMN!! You don’t do things half-way, do you?
(insert emoji for “senseless admiration”)
@Pharmaboy I figured that I would probably end up with all 3 of them anyways at some point. Really liked all the ltd. wood being offered at the time too. They sent me an extra Salire stand with the order since there were supply chain issues getting the mahogany case for the Verite. I think it was a strategic move to get me thinking about buying another pair of headphones from them
@perogie Yes got them in Zebrawood and with Rose Gold. I took a few more pictures without the others in frame to give you a better idea of how they look. Happy to take some additional shots of the others if folks are curious.
@R3D will be announcing his loaner tour program soon. Must be in conus area and be a regular forum member. Must also have extensive tattoos.
@BuffaloWing Folks in the Bay Area are welcome to welcome to come by when all is safe again! Tattoos still encouraged.
I have 3 ZMF headphones, too–but not all the same ones as you. I have a blackwood Aeolus, padauk Eikon, and ormosia henryi Ori. It could have been as high as 4 ZMFs: had a cocobolo Atticus but sold it.
Nice! How do you like the Eikon? All of my headphones even aside from the ZMF ones are open back so would be curious to hear your experience and favorite genres to listen to with them.
Oh Yeah… that’s the stuff…
The Eikon was the last closed back headphone I’ll ever buy. I knew when I got it that my strong preference is open-backs, in large part because they aggravate my tinnitus & migraine less than closed-backs. But…I’d heard my friend’s cherry Eikon on numerous occasions & greatly admired the sound; and had a real jones for padauk wood. So when a gently used padauk Eikon came up F.S. ~1.5 yrs ago, I jumped.
The Eikon is in many ways a special, elevated design IMO: it is perhaps the most dynamic headphone I ever heard, top to bottom; has borderline spectacular bass (flat, neutral, tonally accurate, TOTL sub-bass); a large, musically detailed midrange; and some of the best, most spacious soundstaging I’ve heard from any headphone of any type. It’s a very exciting, dynamic, “thrill-ride” listen.
BUT…it can get borderline bright & too emphatic/insistent in the upper midrange. This is very much dependant on sources, amp, and music genre (it’s certainly not a one-size-fits-all brightness blanket). So I handle the Eikon with care, not cranking the volume often & not listeing to it if I have a headache.
I flat-out love the Aeolus, but greatly admire the Eikon, which for me is more of a specialist/special occasion listen. And for what it’s worth, the padauk wood is knockout beautiful.
Thank you for taking the time for that description. That’s super helpful when some of this gear is hard to audition. The dynamics of it, midrange, and bass sound really intriguing to me. It would be great to have a closed back for settings where I am not at home too.
I am with you on the Aeolus as being my go to for most of everything. I can imagine padauk wood looks incredible with the design of the Eikon
