They’re probably getting prepared for Zmf November sale. I’m sure they’ll get back to you.

Thank you @SleepyRhythms - This is super helpful and I love that I’m not the only one that gets emotional while listening. Had that same experience with Abby Road Deluxe recently.

Regarding the Aeolus - how “loud” is it from being open - in other words, how much will it disturb others in the room. I found something like the Sundara, I might have well been listening to speakers as everyone in the room heard everything. With my HD600, others can hear it but not quite as much and same with the Elex. Are the Aeolus fully open in this way or are they a bit muted?

thank you.

They are probably very busy… also to note… Zach has stopped taking any custom works for the time being… so if it isn’t on the website as an option it isn’t likely he will do a custom job right now… this will change I’m sure in the future… but, right now they are focusing on getting all the current headphones out and building up inventory of baseline models… also, they were 2-3 weeks behind on emails a couple weeks ago… so they will probably, eventually get to your email =) Just keep trying

Hopefully that helps!

What is the ZMF November history? Zach mentioned it in an email last month and I’m just curious what to expect.

Thanks

Hey! I was scanning our inbox trying to find this as I’ve been concentrated on answering my emails the past few days and have gotten pretty caught up. Would you mind sending again directly to Zach@zmfheadphones.com

I’ll get you a response right back. But yes, as stated we aren’t doing any custom orders/woods but will have some special sets in ZMF November (which is going to go over into December as well.)

Thanks Zach for reaching out! You are the best! I sent my email inquiry again to you.
Thanks,

They don’t leak nearly as much as an open back Focal, so they aren’t that loud.

Oh, yes can confirm. Open Focals are much more leaky than any open ZMF Ive tried. It’s not even close. The ZMFs are muffled unless you have it cranked to deafening levels.

I still have no idea how you managed to come up with such an outstanding sound making the Aeolus. And they’re jaw dropping to look at. Flawless work! Thanks for always addressing concerns and staying friendly. Hope you and Bevin are good.

I got your email just now - but it was in my spam folder for whatever reason. If anyone ever doesn’t get a response from us in a reasonable amount of time, definitely try sending from a different email address and I will try to do better at periodically checking the spam folder just in case.

This is great news about the Aeolus - helps seal the deal for me. I’ll be ready to purchase as soon as the ZMF November specials are posted. Keeping my fingers crossed there is something in cherry wood coming and headphone stands.

Would still love to find a way to pre-listen before purchasing the Aeolus in the Seattle area.

Cheers

The Co-Pilot pad is a legit offering. I already found my Verite to be pretty comfy but the Co-Pilot boosts it even more.

Will have to try it on the Utopia, I’m skeptical it will fit as it’s a thicker headband than the VO.

The issue with the copilot on thicker head bands is that both half’s have the rigid plastic piece so it’s harder to close over thicker headbands than it could be.
Still liked mine.

Yeah, thats what I figured. Still gonna give it a try and see at some point.

Is this below an old grill used? Was it for the Aeolus?

That was one of the 3D printed prototypes. I don’t recall if it was for the Aeolus, Auteur, or Verite though. I’m thinking Aeolus, but can’t confirm.

Yea, I got the picture from a post that was mainly talking about the Aeolus. Interesting design!

Just signed up here on the forum after many visits to read the ZMF threads. I’ve been over on Head-Fi since ‘05, but I’m always open to finding a new place to discuss this shared obsession of ours.

Over the last couple of months I have slowly but surely convinced myself that I “need” a Verite Closed. I owned the Aeolus and really liked it, but I came to the conclusion that I need a closed-back for listening at home. I thought I might as well swing for the fences and get a Verite Closed.

That being said, my source and amp are not high end by any means. I have a Topping E30 DAC and JDS Labs EL Amp II. My current headphones are the popular Mod House Argon. I use the Schiit Loki to bring the bass levels down a bit. I think these sound pretty great and managed to hold their own when put up against the Aeolus. Obviously in the looks department it wasn’t even close!

Will I be missing out on a lot of the potential of the VC when used with my modest setup? I am very hesitant to jump into the world of tube amps. The sheer number of variables really overwhelms me.

Last question, anyone have any idea when the ZMF November Sale is going to start? I thought it would be one day this week but looks like it hasn’t begun yet.

The transducer is the most important part of the chain so going top end there isn’t a crazy idea. If you like the Aeolus with your rig then it’s probably not a stretch to say the VC should sound fine to you.

Your source gear won’t max out it’s capabilities but I find ZMFs to so far be relatively tolerant of various levels of attached equipment. Of course they will scale.

Tube amps can be a bit intimidating at first but feel free to ask questions. There are quite a varied amount of tube amps being employed by the masses here.
