I put my Aeolus up there with the Clear for comfort, especially with the Suede Universe pads! I put my suede pilot pad from ZMF on it for a little bit and it made them even more comfortable but I like the look with it off… As they are such a good looking headphone. I may look into buying the suede strap
WOAH! They have suede headband straps?! Have I been living under a rock? I didn’t know…
I need 5 of these, immediately. 4 for my current ZMF headphones, and one I can fondle and constantly rub lovingly across my smooth, soft as a baby’s butt, shaven head. The suede caresses may continue for a disturbingly long period of time. In public.
Shakes fist at sky
Damn you Zach!!!
Stop it I can only get so ere…errr…never mind…there are ladies and children present lol
TMI. TMI. TMI.
but i want one too.
(cue stripper pole music)
ZMF Suede Pilot Pad attached to the strap of the Aeolus…if anyone was curious how it would look… it is very soft and comfy, but I have to extend the cups to max extension on the rods for it to fit… I don’t have a massive head either so this might not work for those with larger domes
Oooohhhhh yeah… Ohhh. Ohhh baby. Get me some suede.
Whew!
Was it good for you?
Lights a ciggy
not that you will want to listen…but the Aeolus review by Zreviews has the Suede Strap… it is definitely a thick’n. it is probably 1/2 -3/4ths the size of the pilot pad in my pictures above. Zach said that it is good for people with a head size smaller than 7 1/4…otherwise you are extending the rods to max for good fit…
…ok yeah re-reading that and I am talking about headphones here…just so we are all clear
Are those Audeze style rods? I think they sell longer rods on the Audeze site. Would those be the same ones Zach uses?
They’re different sized rods.
The ZMF are round, 5 mm in diameter on the main rod and 4.2 mm in the grooves. The Audeze rods are flat on two sides, are 4.75 mm across the rounded sides, 4.25 mm across the flat sides and 3.8 mm in the grooves.
It might be possible to put the Audeze rods into the ZMF chassis (I don’t feel like dismantling either set of headphones to actually try it), but it definitely won’t work the other way.
These pix surprise me. I assumed that to use the Pilot Pad w/the Aeolus (or Eikon, Atticus, Auteur, Verite, all w/understrap design) you would first remove the understrap. If you could do that, then put the PP on the headband itself, almost all the usual vertical range of the sliders would be preserved.
You could do that too…but I didn’t/don’t want to deal with removing the strap and this works for me I just have to extend the adjustments.
Woohoo. Im not last on the list for Verite anymore. I am growing more impatient and more excited every day. I can’t imagine how patient you have to be to have waited a while longer already.
The web store formerly known as Massdrop has trained me well lol
I remember when he released the Eikon / Atticus the first day of RMAF. I bought both at the show (preordered, that is). RMAF was in early October. I got them in March. =P hehehe
Military medical can really teach you the meaning of “hurry up and wait.” I know those feels. Glad you’re getting them soon, though!
One of many Un-official military mottos lol, just shy of 20yrs combined uniform/GS (I retired early )
Couldn’t figure out where I’d fit in the GS world, so ended up working with Orion to find somewhere instead…ended up in biotech, now “shifting” gears into Commissioning & Qualification.
Life has many forks, man. I’m just enjoying the ride.
Oh I know it lol! I went into Gov contracting as a gov laison after I retired early. Now I’m working for Vulcan Inc as a maritime analyst. If I would have stayed uniform I would be retiring end of this year with 20…the decision we make propel us further on this journey called life.
I will just put this here… Let it be known, that Verite, King of the ZMF, Lord of Beryllium, shall depart from his kingdom within 3 moons from now.
