To those who expressed concern on where my former love would end up, to those that misunderstood the intent of my open letter. They are staying put, so my little boy can enjoy some music through an excellent headphone :service_dog: :notes:

I may have lost my mind, but I’m adding another Auteur to my collection. I should have them in a few days. They are LTD African Blackwood with brass grills and rods. If possible, they might even give my Ash Auteurs a run for their money in the looks department. We’ll see how they fare in the head-to-head when it comes to sound. I’ve always heard great things about the Blackwood Auteur. I’ll finally get to see what all the fuss is about!

Insanity, just like misery, loves company.

I love the blackwood look. I wish the weight/density was less for my weak neck.

I’m trying to decide if I should pick up a Pilot Pad or Co-Pilot Pad to go with these. I already need to order a 2K Copper adapter from ZMF, so I could throw one of these in the order to help me with the weight. Any preferences between the two?

I succumbed to the insanity too, and ordered a pair of Verite open in the blackwood, with copper rods/grills! I’m super jazzed!

Zach really created a range of masterpieces this year with the epoxy stabilized Verite. They are all stunning! Good thing I already ordered the blackwood, as the stabilized ones are out of my league! The LTD Verite is already a stretch for me. Whoever scores here on the stabilized tomorrow will truly get a one of a kind headphone :grinning:

If you’re going to Auteur roll, you might as well go all the way and Pilot Pad roll and case roll. Enjoy.

I loved the Co-Pilot with the ZMF Verite when I had it.

Haha, I will be ā€œcase rollingā€ since I will finally have one of the nice wood ZMF display cases. I’m a fan of the Seahorse case myself, but variety is the spice of life. I might wait and feel how heavy my Blackwood set is before I buy a Pilot/Copilot pad.

I like the idea of putting the pad around the leather suspension strap. Is that a viable option, or have most of you gone through the trouble of removing the strap before installing the pad directly on the headband? I really don’t want to take out the screws that hold the strap and headband in place if I can help it. With my luck, I’d scratch something using a screwdriver in such close proximity to all that highly polished wood.

Nice. Now you’ll have a mix of function and beauty.

Yes for leather strap, not for suede strap if I recall.

I eventually removed it as it’ll be a better fit. With reasonable care, the risk of damage is low.

Absolutely beautiful.

Call me crazy, but I like the look of these B-stock and rare woods more than the stabilized/epoxy sets. If I didn’t already have a Black Limba Auteur and Almond Aeolus, I’d be all over this year’s offerings. But for once in my life, I think I’m happy with what I got…

…is what I’ll try to remember by the time Sunday comes around

Also, found this to be the most informative and hilarious disclaimer: ā€œthere is no guarantee that I will receive it by any specific holidayā€ lol

You could wait until the new pads are available for order

This section is required to continue please read!

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a ZMF 2K Copper XLR to 1/4" adapter. I went ahead and threw a Pilot Pad on the order as well to go with my notoriously hefty Blackwood Auteur. Now I need to stop spending money for a good long while!

You and me both! I wish there weren’t a couple VO B-stock calling my name
