ZMF Vérité - Open-Back Dynamic Headphone - Official Thread

Oh definitely! When I said “neutral” I meant neutral in relation to the other recommended ZMF pads (auteur & universe)…

Yeah I’m with you with the EQ, it was just a fun (or dead) joke…I’d love to try it out but I have a VC not a VO…but who knows, they might work out with the VC too since they’re similar.

Yeah I’d be curious about the Auteur pads on the VO. I know there are a few others as well, so it’s always worth playing around with that.

Oh man, I was looking for this the other day and couldn’t find it. Thanks for the update!

Now, pretty please, would you do a 5-band version for the RME ADI-2?

You might be able to do it on the RME…see if the B&T values fit on there. The RME technically has 7 bands, although limited.

Yes, I’ll give it a shot. I’ll do my best to make it fit the RME PEQ, even though it is a bit limited in the number of bands it let’s you adjust.

So far I have mostly raised a few dips in the frequency response, but I see that Resolve also makes use of a few cuts. I’ll see if I can work that into the RME EQ.

Can anyone tell me if I can transpose these values into the Roon parametric EQ, or does it not work like that?

You definitely can…just take the values from @Resolve’s post and plug into Roon EQ…straightforward as that

I was literally digging through this thread last night looking for your eq settings. Thanks for posting!

Oh great, an Echo user

Which tubes are you using?

I have a VO I’m waiting on right now and I recently bought one of the initial batches of Echo Mk II amps to complement it. Really looking forward to it.

Hi, I’m using tubes from Valvo.

Nice! I didn’t know there was a MKII, I’ll have to check it out.

Initially I was looking at the Euphoria, but wanted to get a feel for Feliks-Audio so I decided to try their base model (Echo). When I got the Echo I was so impressed and then I couldn’t figure out how the design of the Euphoria improved upon the Echo. So I held on to the Echo and instead upgraded the tubes :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

How close do the BE2 suede’s sound to the Universe suede?

Edit:
I tried your EQ for the be2 suede with medium clamp force on the Universe suede pads and it sounds amazing! Still looking forward to a EQ preset for the Universe suede specifically

I’m looking for advice :pray::

I’ve been going back and forth between my Hugo 2 standalone and the Hugo 2 + Eddie Current ZDT Jr (JAN-GE 5654W Tubes) feeding my VOs (originating from Tidal/Roon on MacBook Pro)

I’ve preferred the standalone Hugo 2 sound (feels cleaner, more spacious and I really connect with the Chord sound signature). This may be influenced by using this same chain for my Focal Stellias and the sound just feels more at home with my clinical taste.

My question: I’ve read the great thread on the ZMF Pendant and it seems like that’s a tube amp that could be made for my taste. Does anyone have an opinion on the Chord Hugo TT2 vs the Pendant. I know these are apples and oranges (both in price and build), but if you had to buy one or the other, which would you get?

Bonus question: Does anyone have thoughts on the ZDTJr vs. the Pendant? I’d love an expectation on value gain if I went the Pendant route.

I’m not able to give any advice on the gear you’re looking at, but…

IMHO the VO with Hugo 2 is just beautiful, a perfect match.

PS. The other amps I have are mainly used with my HD800S, not the VO.

Hey man

We are in the same boat, having to buy blind amps for the verite
How did your journey go ? Lyr 3 ? Valhalla ?
Any reccomendatoins to me who wants something relatively compact ?
Would you share with me your setup now ?

I have VO + Valhalla 2, so I can at least share my experience with that pairing. I don’t find that the Valhalla really adds much in the way of soundstage or width, but it definitely adds a bit of mid flavor and a 3-dimensionality to the sound. It also rolls off the treble just a tiny bit, but being that the VO is already a bit light in the treble department I’m not seeing that as quite the benefit it is on my HD800S or Arya. Honestly, I don’t find my particular tubes (Valhalla w NOS Siemens) to be of much benefit to the VO, at least not compared to what it does for the HD800S. It’s not a bad pairing, just not one I would go out of my way to yell about from the rooftops.

Long term I’m looking at replacing (or supplementing?) the Valhalla with something along the lines of a Pendant or Mogwai SE next year, so I’m totally with you on trying to identify the “best” amp choice when you can’t audition them.

Thanks for your comment
I’m moving to london from norway, there j will be able to find and audition whatever i want i assume.
I took a leap of faith in the VC but I’ll keep my 788 until i check things out first hands,
Now I’m leaning towards a bf2+lyr3 but that’s lots of money to put blind…

Fwiw, I don’t think anyone has ever heard a Bifrost 2 and said “nah, i don’t like it.” :wink:lol Lyr is warm, Bifrost is already inherently warm, and Verite is warm. That’s a whole lot of warmth in the chain. Maybe consider a Jotunheim instead?

IMO, Bifrost + Jotunheim is a safe bet. Tubes are where it gets tricky.

Replying to Seif too,
I love my TT2 and will be pairing with the Pendant SE when it arrives. I’m happy with it as my solid state option, but the strength of course is the DAC, which the Pendant doesn’t have so for me it wouldn’t be one or the other. I’d think the Hugo 2 & Pendant would be excellent. I also loved the Hugo 2 especially with the VO, which prompted the TT2 purchase.

The Hagerman Tuba amp is great for me with the VO and has a pretty small footprint. I find it more mid-forward and airy and prefer it over my iCan Pro with my favorite tubes rolled in it. It doesn’t have a ton of power but I listen often at 80db until I remind myself to turn it down, and the volume is usually at 12-1. With some songs that are very quiet I do have to max out the volume but they’re rare. Ultimately I could use the TT2 in Amp instead of DAC mode to help with that or just listen to those songs not blasting. All that said, if you’re in Europe I’d think the Feliks amps are better bang for the buck (or Euro).
I had the Valhalla 2 too, and it was enjoyable once adding adapters and tubes which cost 2/3 of the amp itself, but nothing I’d recommend with ZMFs. I never bothered with stock tubes in it for more than a few hours. It was also the cheapest of the tube amps I’ve used with my ZMFs so there’s that.
