Anime, Japanese Music discussion

Oh, I have one but I’m not going to pay double for streaming on both services haha. There are ways that I use to get J-Pop/K-Pop stuff

Not really, most my friends use Apple Music, lately the trend do shift to Spotify a bit tho.

If it is distributed with something like TuneCore it should be available in any platform possible, just region locked.

Gonna write some article about Doujin music later

Currently I have completed a list of what I gonna buy in this M3-47

Haul for today! Probably not as good as what @Banbeucmas had gotten recently tho…ha

After so many months of being out of stock, I finally got it…ost from a definite hidden gem of an anime (nagi no asukara). A solid rec for the romance genre!

I think I saw that on Suru the other day. Tho didn’t bother since M3 killed my money already.

Caught up to Re:Zero. I’m not fully invested in to this show but it ended OK. The battle scenes were pretty well done and had some impact. Still think it drags on more than it should. I’ll keep following it. Hopefully it tries to freshen itself up in the next season but probably not as there are still a lot of things lingering.

A few new shows have stood out, Ive watched bits of a lot of shows so this is not inclusive.

  1. Those Show White Notes: very good and could become excellent.
  2. Higehiro: Slice of life show with hints of maybe something darker underneath
  3. Nagatoro - I have no idea if this show is going to get better or not and I have no idea why I am watching it as it just seems overly mean at times and the relationship between the main characters has not been explained yet.
  4. 86: Not sure about this one, has the elements to be very good but so far hasnt brought anything really new to the table and the mystery about it may have already been eliminated. My interest stalled but Im going to take it up again this weekend in the hope it grabs my attention.
  5. Vivy Flourite: Has some typical anime sci-fi themes but is visually excellent with high level sound design and has a mix of a lot of different things going on. Very solid so far.
  6. Combatants Will Be Dispatched: Pretty much a Konosuba clone, which Im OK with.

So far, Those Snow White Notes and Higehiro have stuck with me the most. I still have a few more to try out that I have on my playlist.

And why is Laid Back Camp so awesome! On to season 2 now, has a bit of a different vibe so far, seems more forward then chill.

You know what I’d agree with you there but I think they nailed the ending and did the WN justice. There was so much stuff that got cut out but I think they did a pretty good job overall. I know what you mean where they dragged out those scenes and left all the good stuff towards the end. The fight scenes were pretty disappointing for me tbh. Soundtrack, I thought, was pretty good. Overall I’m skewed towards a more positive outlook because I read the WN and got all that info dump beforehand, so I understood everything the anime skipped.

Definitely, it gets more wholesome and serious…

Definitely some development…I enjoy the manga and I thought the animation and VA is one of the best this season…

I haven’t started yet but this is my type of genre and plot…and the ED song is :ok_hand:

Which one do you prefer?

Oddtaxi is the laid-back camp this season…they’re different but have a similar vibe. Still prefer laid-back camp tho…

You should check out Marimashita Iruma-kun…really enjoy the manga and show but if you watched the 1st season and didn’t like it then you probably wouldn’t like the 2nd.

Have you finished AoT manga yet?

And of course Demon Slayer movie is finally out for those not in Japan…

The fight with Gar was well done and enjoyable, the one with Ram was average. I didnt know it came from a WN. I just googled it and it sounds like it is pretty extensive.

Part of the problem for me was that I lost track of why they were even in the sanctuary and why was it important? So it was like they were trying to solve a puzzle that I didnt even know existed, my fault for not paying enough attention. I hold out hope for the next season.

I’ll give you that, just kind of cringe at times without providing context. It has to be going somewhere, they’ve hinted at things but its still fairly one dimensional.

In theory this should be up my alley too but so far it hasnt grabbed me. I wont say more since you havent seen it.

Konosuba. Combatants has the same type of character interaction and comedy but falls short on the VA, at least so far. I enjoy it but would have preferred another season of Konosuba as I heard there was still source material available. I look forward to new episodes of Combatants so thats something.

Ive got it on the watch list. Wanted to get a few episodes released as I think it may be a show you need to do a mini binge on to appreciate it.

I have watched the first few episodes but in fits and starts. I eyeball it every now and then but havent gotten back to it. Gets some good press so its still on my mind that I should give it an honest try.

Read the first 5 volumes really quick. Was getting them off of Amazon so they were starting to add up $ wise. I slowed it down as $4-500 on a digital manga in a month was a bit steep as I could easily marathon it.

One of the online mange repositories I occasionally use might have it but its down for an upgrade so I havent been able to check. I plan on getting a few more volumes over the next few days. Im hoping to have it completed before the second part of the final season begins. I have been guilty of devouring shows and series I like very quickly and then I get pissed off that its over so Im trying to pace myself so I’ll have something to keep me going.

Yeah… sigh… no way for me to see it yet. Digital release is June 22, whether that includes streaming or just BD Im not sure. Im hoping that if I miss it on stream, as they may have a very short release period then pull it, that I can rent it and stream, Not sure I want to buy the BD since while I like the show its not a top series for me, does have some greatness in it though.

Nah, I don’t think it’s the viewer’s fault at all…there’s just so much plot-wise and information dump that they can only do so much to adapt it fully.

There should be last time I checked–another season…There’s definitely more material since the original source is from an LN (haven’t read).

You have Crunchyroll, right? They should have the last few volumes on their manga section…I’d advise reading it on a desktop since the crunchyroll manga app is crap. But other than that it’s high quality.

This! Then I realize I have so much more on the list that I’ll probably never get to anyway cause I’m not in the mood or something…

I might get it…mostly for the soundtrack. lol
If I do, DM me and we can work something out if you’re interested.

I think I need more shelf spaces now. Like really really need more
There was a lot of stuff this M3 which I might write a blog post later. It’s really a M3 for Ethic oriented circles, not so great for electronic music tho

There’s material but I think the concern was that there have been no announcements about s3. It would be disappointing if it doesn’t come out.

I think it’s region blocked. For the longest time now I keep getting a server error.

One of those problems that is nice to have. I have the same issue, just too much to watch/read. I know I’m missing releases I’d probably really like but I mainly hope I don’t waste my time on stuff that turns out isn’t great.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention for the Madoka Magica fans out there, there will be a sequel to the 3rd movie (Rebellion)…the series is definitely one of my top 10, so stoked about this!

If you haven’t watched the series definitely put it on your shortlist–it’s one of those don’t judge an anime by its cover type.

Put the series on the watchlist.

Just watched the the first few episodes of Oddtaxi.

Unique visual style, great dialogue, interesting characters and a mystery plot line. I really like it, hopefully it keeps up the quality throughout.

It’s a refreshing change from the typical fare. It’s something I’d end up binge watching if the season was complete.

Also just caught up on snow white notes and out of all the music-focused anime I’ve watched I would rank this the lowest…but not because it’s bad; the other shows were just better…

My main gripe with the show is that the characters aren’t really compelling and not much connection is established. I know there has only been 5eps so maybe I’ll change my mind by the time it finishes. I still enjoy it though don’t get me wrong.

Oh, and I’m really enjoying the 2nd season of Mairimashita Iruma-kun…it’s just so fun to watch but I can understand why some might not like it.
