Thanks, brother.

No need to if it’s an inconvenience. You’ve already answered my question. :+1:t4:

Enjoy the show!

Hadn’t heard these before. The founder says his aim was to move the sound more in front of you. 3 drivers per ear.

They sound solid but maybe I’m getting the feel that the $300-$500 planar market is getting a bit saturated.

Not made for big ears

4.4mm balanced output on the DAC to input on the CAN. Sorry for the distorted image, was squeezing my phone between a few things :joy:

any idea on pricing of Zen Can?

They couldn’t give me specifics but said it would be affordable like the Zen DAC.

Day 1 in the books! Nice to meet you in person @taronlissimore

Favorite (biased) - Verite Closed, Ash wood with the Hybrid pads.

Most interesting - Maybe the Crossover Headphone. Not sure if I loved it but it was different.

Trend I’m liking - Sub $200 hardware (DACs & Amps and DAC/Amps). Feels like a lot of good quality out there to build a solid system without taking out a loan.

Man!! You really take the most of the show!!! Congrats!! I was there when they open at 10am, but having family plans for the evening and a couple of thing to do before, by 12:30 I was leaving the exhibition, but all my task completed. I’ll post some impressions here soon.
The big surprise was the Heddphone.

Thanks! I tried to make the rounds a few times though I didn’t spend much time with any IEMs. I also want to get a good listen in with the Aeon 2.

Dude I listened to that track and wandering on my big speakers 5.1 system last night and it sounded so good, those two tracks are my two favorites for testing imaging, detail and sound stage for headphones or speakers. Plus they are just so fun!!

Here is a few, quick impression from my first CanJam.
My agenda for today visit was to give a try to those big guys I never had a chance to see in my hands. I own Elear, HD58x, HD6xx and HD800 and know very well the Clears. My idea, since only have the morning to spend there, was to avoid all headphones in the same level as mine.
On my list was Utopia, Heddphones, Audeze LDC4, Abyss, and the ZMF’s open back family. I was lucky enough to found there the RAAL SR1a ( I was not prepare for that!!), and also check with Elegia and the new Aeon 2 closed.
I prefer open back over closed back and having no need to use the last ones, my A/B between Elegia and Aeon 2 was just curiosity and…who knows in the future if I need one. I do try on the Stellia and was IMPRESIVE , but out of my price range for a closed one that , again, I don’t need.
Aeon 2 was the most cute headphone I tried there, I know “cute” is maybe not a good thing for a headphone, but it was!! It was light, foldable, small , pretty, feels so tiny and weightless like made of feathers, compared to the sturdy, heavy and indestructible Elegia is like comparing a warrior and the maiden he is supposed to save.
They both sound really good , but in the Focal you forget is a closed back, with the Aeon not. By the way Dan Clark Audio had a 10% off and focal 20%.
Going back to the open back, the winner of the show was the one I was not counting on see it there, the RAAL SR1a !! Is the BEST headphones I ever put on my head. They have it at the Schiit booth connected to the Jotunheim R and was out of this world. Weird and ugly as hell, but super light, comfortable and I was able to find out how to adjust them to my head with no problem at all( very different from the Abyss). The level of details and precision were unique, sorry I lack adjectives to describe it, but is everything @Torq had said and more.
Second on my “the best” list are the Heddphone, I never thought I would like them more than the Utopia, but I did. Utopia is excellent, but is missing the bass the Hedd have. They are huge and heavy, they are probably the ogre the warrior have to fight to save the maiden.
It bothers me the limited length of the headband, I’m close to the 6 feet tall and my head is normal for my size ( I wanna believe that) and I do need one more inch, half inch to each side to be perfect, no more than that. In order to have the end of my ears free inside the cup I had to press the headband to the top of my head that it was not comfortable for the 10 minutes I have them on.
If I (in the future) end up buying one of the headphones I try there is gonna be the Heddphone IF they put at least one more inch to extend the headband. I know, SR1a was my number one, but they are complicated, they are attached to an specific amp and I can not take them with me an connected to de iFi Micro like I’m doing right now with my HD800 . With the RAAL I need an station and to listen only there. With the Hedd I can use my station, but also be somewhere in the house like I’m half of the time.

Utopias…to many things are already said about them and the good ones are all right, about the sound and about aesthetics , but for the price I just prefer the Heddphones .
Abyss was the big disappointment and is NOT against the headphones my impression, It was a group of things, there was only one on display, the guy behind me in the line was desperate and want me to know it, the guy in charge was on the phone and no intentions to explain me at least how to have a proper fit and seal on my head and ears and I was not able to do it at the end, music was MP3 quality ( not sure about that, but it seems to me) and at the end I just give up.
Audeze LCD4, was just to dark for my taste and music selection was very limited, same with the Heddphones by the way.
I didn’t have a lightning to usb adapter with me ( my bad), next time I know.
ZMF, they were my main interest for this show and it was also disappointing. They have a room only for them and lots, but lots of people interested and that’s the problem, the room ended up being a happy hour place where the guys standing and waiting for the ones seating and listening where just having fun talking to each others and asking all their questions to the representatives and that, in a small room, using open backs is deadly.
One of the representatives ( a very helpful guy) were easily 10 minutes trying to connect my phone to the DAC to and it was not possible make the sound pass to the amp, but the talking, the talking of the people in that “party” on my back kill the mood I had for the Aeolus. They sound very engaging, nothing to do with RAAL, Hedd or Utopias, but enjoyable in a relaxing way.
Between Verite and Auteur I didn’t find any differences at all in the sound, maybe was the party going on in there.
I only had about 3 hours to be in the show and my time in the ZMF room was at the wrong moment.
I was not looking for IEM, but I have to admit the Audio 64 booth call my attention, but had no time for that.
A comparation between my LCD i3 ( I had it with me there) and the i4 is something that occurs to me when I was already out.
Those are my experiences there and even when a few things went wrong, I’m very happy with all I was able to do and try.
