Decided to get this thread going. I know it’s still super early but I’m excited… this will be my first CanJam or Audio show for that matter. Booked my trip today!!!

Curious to know who’s planning on going and what y’all are most looking forward to checking out.

Would be curious to hear any show tips/tricks that might be helpful. Things to bring, etc.

Still pretty far off… maybe there’ll be some new gear unveiled by then?!:person_shrugging:

Are you staying in the Irvine Marriott?

Definitely planning to attend (will drive from Bay Area, San Jose to be specific). Haven’t booked hotel yet though.

Yes I am😁 Man, I’m excited for this.

Got into the hobby during Covid and I don’t live where I have any access to anything now. Basically I’ve only heard what I’ve bought…So I’m stoked to try some gear!!!

It will be my first time, as a local I will definitely going. Still not sure I will be there both days or just one day.

Now I know where we Chicagoans stand, since you blew us off.

Only kidding, I know you had just got back back from a whirlwind tour of various audio shows, including Axpona in Chicago, and coming to CanJam would probably have broken you. I hope you make it to CanJam Chicago next year.

CanJam Chicago was my first audio show, so I think I know how you feel, and I’m really excited for you!

If SoCal is anything like Chicago, most of the exhibitors should have Tidal or Qobuz. If you subscribe to one of those, you may be able to access your own playlists. I only have Amazon HD, and I’d downloaded a playlist to my phone (because the wifi in the exhibition hall was terrible), and brought an iPhone USB adapter just in case, but I never needed to connect my phone because it was easy enough to use Tidal or Qobuz. My Amazon playlist was still useful because I used it as a checklist, instead of wasting time trying to figure out what I wanted to play.

My advice to you would be to come for 2 days, and if there’s a CanJam discount, stay at the hotel so that you don’t have to fight traffic to get there. Then you can use day 1 to try as much equipment as possible, and use day 2 to spend more time on the things you want to return to. Day 2 should be a little slower, and you’ll be able to spend more time without someone standing behind you, waiting for you to be finished.

And if you like something, ask the exhibitor if they’ll give you a discount for the show model. I bought an LTA MZ3 amp at a really nice discount. It was essentially brand new, as it had only been used for a few days at Axpona and CanJam, and came with full warranty.

Actually, my experience with the MZ3 was a good example of how an audio show newbie like me learned the ropes. I listened to it for 5 minutes in the ZMF room, after spending some time on the ZMF Decware amp, and I didn’t like the bass on the LTA so I wrote it off. I listened for 5 minutes again on day 2 and the bass seemed fine, so perhaps there was some brain burn in. In fact it sounded so good that I decided to go visit the LTA table, where I learned that the LTAs need some time to warm up, and I’d possibly heard it too early in the morning on day 1. Also ZMF had an older model. So I tried the latest version of the MZ3 on the LTA table, loved it, and then spent an hour going down my playlist, loving every song I listened to. As I mentioned, I ended up asking if I could take it home with me.

Only a 40 minute drive without traffic for me 0.0

So, with traffic that’s about 8.5 hours?

Sadly probably more, without a doubt

I will be there. Coming from west LA, so 40 minutes away. This will be my second time (2021). I need to listen to all the 64 Audio IEM’s. I am most looking forward to the ZMF Atrium and Ampsandsound Red October. Finally the Audeze MM500. I think the MM500 is what I am most likely to buy if I like it and I think I will like it. I have pretty much heard everything else of interest, but who knows? Maybe I will find something else?

I will be there - all bodes well, I’ll be relocated to SoCal by the first week of September so won’t need a hotel!

Not sure who I’ll be with yet - it’ll be announced soon enough when things get settled!
