There is truth in that. This is a relatively non lethal lethal disease. Its mortality rate is likely lower than reported as a huge number of folks either havent been tested, won’t be tested or the numbers havent been reported accurately, especially early on. Its scary because it can kill people and is spreading world wide; but, these things always spread world wide, they usually dont kill people though so we dont try and track it.

Its a wake up call for preparedness. I began thinking about this stuff last summer during a power outage and have slowly been getting some stuff together but am nowhere near what I probably should be. Maybe the next online forum I join will be a doomsday prepper one.

It sure does!

On a personal note, my son suffers from severe asthma that he’s had since the age of 2 due to pneumonia. Since then he’s always struggled during flu season with common colds and other respiratory illnesses. The last twelves years have Ben accompanied with many sleepless nights on the nebulizer, and dozens of sick-days spent at home.

My point is that though we continue to take the same precautions we essentially always have, there’s nothing more that we can do, and participating in mass panic does us no good, but would only had to our base level of stress (which most people know is a real killer).

I guess I just have faith that all will be well, and all will be as it’s meant to be.

It is kind of spooky. I went shopping Friday morning, store shelves were full, lots of people shopping. Went Saturday evening to get a couple more things and the same store was pretty much empty.

What I find most interesting is the stuff that was not bought: junk food. Pop, chips, candy was still fully stocked. We have to keep in mind that stockpiling, that you feel you have to, is a large expense. My grocery bill over the last week is big big big. I can afford it, but there are those who cant. Combine financial insecurity with food insecurity and thats a big stress. Seeing the junk food left in the grocery store makes me think people were choosing better food options with the money they had.

5 cents a square.
Local kid was suspended in school for charging fellow students $1 per squirt of hand sanitizer.

I have 2 secret methods for getting twice the value from TP. One requires 2 ply paper. …

I remember when you could order a roll of Tyvek that was very close to the size and shape of a toilet paper roll. Edmund’s Scientific used to sell it. Was often used as a joke when people tried to tear it off. Now, it could be a washable alternative.

It’s been a cluster#%@& of a day.
About 6 PM last night, the Governor declares emergency, saying all but a very few workers must stay home. Exception for businesses that can tele-commute, but physical offices must be closed.
Effective at 8PM, but enforcement Friday Midnight.

I’m a Financial Advisor and we have a 2 person neighborhood office. Many emails and conference calls. We are told it’s the law, we need to close up, and not set foot in the office again until further notice. Unknown duration. Clean the fridge, take home the plants. (I have a couple of large ones). I can telecommute. My Admin - only sorta, a bit up in the air about how long her paycheck goes. Can’t scan checks. Can’t send mail. We already had the office locked to outside visitors. Mail to be forwarded…

Obviously, there was an existing plan in place to cover things. Nobody was happy about it, but the company did have it’s act together.

I unbolt my big monitor (It’s mine, personally) from the wall and pack it and take it home. Stick the biggest plant in my trunk, lid open, for my Admin’s Mom to look after until we’re let back in.

Get home. I left the 4 mounting screws in the office. Go back. I set up the big monitor at my home workstation. I think I’ll log in to work just to test it.

Email: GREAT NEWS! Our legal team negotiated with the Governor’s office and we have a waiver for 2 person offices. See y’all at work Monday. Have a great weekend.

UGH. I’m bringing stuff back on my own schedule. Not 4 hours to close or the cops will report you.

No, I’m not minimizing the coronavirus. I have folks who are 92 this year. I’d like to keep them around a while. Doesn’t make the day any happier. Going 13 hours now on coffee, one hot chocolate, and a snack.

Sorry to hear, brother.

That really sucks, and can be a common theme now a days. God willing things will resume to “normal” sooner than later. Check that, hopefully things will be better than before. Stay safe.

California was just placed on lockdown “kinda sort of.” Essential trips only, no crowds or gatherings. Mostly self imposed restrictions. There’s no one enforcing the directives at this point.

Had to make a few trips into San Diego County and Orange County last week…no traffic to speak of…which was very strange. I have a tax appointment next week, after that I’ll just hunker down for a bit.

Lots of sensationalism and bad information out there.

Completely agree.

People need to calm down. Their stress will kill them before Covid-19 ever will…

Be safe, and enjoy your time home with loved ones.

Our Cheif Medical Officer did a press conference and said to keep your social distancing at home too, away from your Children.

The lady next to him doing the sign language just kind of stopped and looked at him, like the idiot he is.

Governement really nailing it down here…

Only in times of crisis does political posturing/pandering/grandstanding meet reality. Suddenly, functional ideas become popular and demonstrably bad ideas disappear. We are going to see a lot of silence, word-eating, and evolving ideologies throughout 2020. The political center is moving in the ‘primal survival’ direction.
