Final Audio D8000 over-ear planar magnetic Headphones - Official Thread

Splash some of that reviewer money around haha

Maybe if the hobby were a bit less niche hahah.

Have you considered TikTok?

We keep trying to get @Chrono to be our TikTok ambassador but he keeps declining for some reason :frowning: .

I’ve only purchased a couple headphones myself. When you have headphones coming across the desk every day it’s harder to justify buying a pair when you know they aren’t going to get as much listen time as they probably should.

I personally quite liked the D8000, would take it over the Pro. But I’d also take a RAD-0 over both. D8000 vs LCD-4 would be a tough one for me though. D8000 certainly could get more headtime as it’s considerably more comfortable but the LCD-4’s resolution is so good.

Did you show @Chrono how to floss though? That might draw him in.

I got the floss on lock, don’t even worry about it… that being said I still decline the position of TikTok ambassador @taronlissimore  :relaxed:

@Resolve Tried the D8KP on any tubes yet?

Yeah I tried it on the Cayin HA1 M2. I think it works reasonably well with certain tube amps - maybe not OTL stuff (the D8K pro is fairly easy to drive), but something that maybe softens a bit of that treble could be cool.

Any other cans compete with the D8000 Pro, at a lower price point? Added comfort be a bonus.

My leaning is toward warmer cans, bass to have good impact. These EQ’s D8KP tick a lot of boxes, really great performance. Something lighter / more comfy be ideal!

I run mine on a DNA stratus, low impedance out, low gain, so 3 Ohm output impedance.
On that they sound exceptional. I’d take it over anything SS I have here,
I tried them on the SW51+, that was pretty terrible.
Haven’t tried them on the Tuba.

Lighter and more comfy at a lower price… I don’t think anything competes with those parameters really. I know the Diana V2 is lighter and less expensive, but I don’t think it’s at the same level for technical performance (at least not when I heard it). Maybe for something different… Verite Closed? Again, not the same kind of detail and clarity overall, but that would be a really nice combo.

I had a Verite open for a while. Real nice. Lacks that insane bass control of the D8000 Pro. Real nice Timbre.

I briefly tried a HE1000SE, nice comfort. Hard to bring myself to spend that money on a Hifiman though

Here I am deciding whether or not to splurge on a Susvara. Do want hahah, but that’s also out of my budget unfortunately.

I just can’t. Too many driver failures and issues. Warranty or not!

It’s an extremely different sound to the Verite Closed.
The Verite stages wider, but it doesn’t have anything like the same resolution, separation, focus in the stage.
The D8000 pro has surprisingly good timbre, and it’s good across the entire frequency range.
To me outside the staging, it’s the speed of the D8000 that’s most notable, it conveys the attack/decay of the notes better which gives the overall sound a clarity that the VC lacks.
I’ve been using the VC this week, and it’s a more fun, more forgiving signature, mines not going anywhere, they really are a good Complement to each other.

A super Verite. That’s what we want now, isn’t it

Did you ever do a EQ profile for the normal D8000 ?

I have them both here with me. Tinkering, but thought you may have had a go at one too.

I don’t think I did one. I think that was over a year ago.
