How would this translate to the Qudelix 5k? There are only 10 PEQ options but 12 here
On the OPTION tab, you can switch EQ MODE to 20 BAND.
Using this ATM. It might be more applicable to more people, though keep in mind I wear glasses so you might not want to do the bass shelf I did if you don’t wear glasses.
So torn between open box Bathys versus new Azurys for the same-ish price.
I have an HD6XX that serves me fine - could use more thump for my electronic music but hey it’s not as bad as people make it seem. On the go AirPods Pro 2, can’t beat the convenience.
Bathys or Azurys would serve the purpose of using in my office. Stick it into my backpack and take it to work. While wireless and ANC are super convenient, not sure I will really need it as I have a closed office for myself. Also, not sure if these could be used for Zoom calls or if I’ll just end up switching to APPs
Gahhh
It’s tough because APP2 is legitimately great, as is the HD6XX. So I guess I’d question whether you… neeed a closed back of any kind.
I love the APP2 and the tuning of the K371, but I’d love another closed back for listening in a shared office. The K371 is an awesome headphone (no build issues for me, my only complaint/desire for another option is because of the microphonic mini-XLR catching on my shoulder). I don’t mind spending a few hundred more.
How does the Azurys compare tuning wise? Really want to get very close to the K371 ideally. I’ve been looking at the Beyerdynamics Pro’s of various kinds but often they seem to have a treble boost or bulge in the upper bass which I’m worried will sound bloated.
Another option I’ve looked at is the Audeze Maxwell which looks well tuned from the Soundguys and Headphones.com graphs and pretty close to the K371. It would be interesting to try a planar!
Unfortunately I have to buy ‘unheard’ hence my graph reliance but interested in hearing from others who might have similar preferences.
I’ve replaced the blue cloth earpads on the Azurys with the black ones from my Bathys. The effect is significant on my head. I think the Azurys (unsurprisingly) sound more like the Bathys with the black Bathys earpads in place. Darker tuning is the result, less apparent glare in the treble.
Perhaps the blue cloth Azurys pads (and the brown ones, slightly different on the Hadenys) are contributing a lot to the weird tuning in the 3.5 kHz (and maybe also in the 6 kHz) region.
By the way, I used @Resolve’s PEQ settings for the stock Azurys using the Roon MUSE PEQ processor with fairly good results, but I prefer the response of the Azurys a lot better with the Black Bathys pads.
I’d be curious to find out if the ~3.5 kHz peak is attenuated (or even absent) with the black Bathys pads in place.
To conclude: I am a lot happier with the Azurys now with the black Bathys pads. The 3.5 kHz peak bothered me quite a lot with the stock blue pads. This is not at all apparent to me with the Bathys black pads in place instead. I am running the Azurys flat now, only a couple dB boost at 20 Hz using the Chord Mojo2’s DSP EQ. To be clear, I use the “red” (lowest setting) cross feed with the Mojo2. I’ve read elsewhere that this may have some effect on the midrange response.
AirPods Pro 2 for convenience is totally understandable
