Nice!..
I love bourbon and root beer! Especially Bundaberg! Their ginger beer is my favorite!
I got their ginger too. Tongue was itching for 30 minutes.
I’m working to get rid of my “low end” stock, alcohol-wise. What is the minimum threshold ($$) for those Bourbons to start tasting better? Accepting suggestions. Even though there’re tons of pictures already in this thread, I’d like to start with a $50 budget, if possible. As a start. Otherwise, I’ll stick to bread ‘n’ butter JD. I do like that sh*t. But I’m a beer kind o guy.
If there is one thing NH is famous for is their liquor stores. Live Free or Die.
It shouldn’t be hard to get anything in here.
Eagle Rare
Buffalo Trace
Elijah Craig
Angels Envy
Woodford reserves Rye
High west bourbon
High west double rye
Those all should be under $50 depending on your state, and are great jump off points plus staples to have.
Cheers
Best motto in the Union.
For me personally, nothing beats listening to Abbey Road along with a classic Rum and Coke. I am particularly a fan of Ron Flor de Cana’s Gran Reserve 7-year aged rum. Cheers!
“One war at a time” – Mr. Lincoln. What’s your favorite in the list, or should I just play Russian roulette? I’m probably being too positive that the stores will have them all. hahaha…
Thanks for the suggestions though.
To add to @TylersEclectic’s list,
Booker’s is my favorite
Baker’s is great
Weller Special Reserve
Knob Creek
And, coming in under $50 but pretty good nonetheless, Michter’s.
(I’d add that the Knob Creek and the Michter’s Ryes are excellent, and Michter’s also does a nice Sour Mash and an American Whiskey, this last being my go-to pour for something sweeter).
Thanks. I can see the suggestion request is escalating quite quickly into a shopping list.
Michters American is one of my all time favorite whiskies!
Also your recommendations are great!
Of the ones I listed, hmm to pick a favorite…it’s like asking a mom to pick her favorite child lol
I would say Angels Envy is a top choice (I prefer the Rye version though)
I think Eagle Rare is probably the safest bet for a good taste…but they are all good, if you don’t prefer sweet I recommend trying Ryes over bourbon…or maybe dipping your toes in the water with a scotch? I recommend Balvenie double wood for a good jump off point with scotch.
I found three bottles of Baker’s on a grocery store clearance rack for $3.50 each. I have a good whiskey collection stored.
Whiskey is like precious metals. Some stuff I paid $30-35 for is now closer to $50 or 60.
This is currently my favorite beer, and it doesn’t even need to be paired with music. Citrus compliments the IPA style very well, and is much better than sour wheat-citrus beers IMO.
Good to know about this one, I’ll keep my eyes peeled. I agree about the citrus being better with IPAs.

A rare exception, a few years ago, was Abita’s lemon wheat beer, which only went on sale for a single summer. It was glorious - not too sweet, more that the lemon peel had flavored the beer but without being overly bitter.
Thanks again for the suggestions, @Tchoupitoulas and @TylersEclectic. Just came back from the Liquor store. Pulled the trigger on these:
The Scotch was a suggestion from a close friend.
As previously mentioned, I’m not a whisky guy and these two should add to the furniture in the short/medium term. Unless some habits change.
In a few months, I may dare to raise the bar and increase the budget a little bit.
Cheers.
I hope you enjoy them - “burn in” is a real thing with some whiskies
. Disregard the first sip of the Baker’s, it takes a moment to acclimatize to the flavor and the
of a 107-proof bourbon! Let the second or third sips guide your impressions (or the 20th, 21st…). Let us know how you get on with them!
Oh! I liked that Glenmorangie! It was a great sipper as I recall!
Glenmorangie in general are nice sippers! Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is a good deal, and a few bucks more, the Glenmorangie NECTAR D’OR, aged in bourbon cask followed by Sauternes wine casks, is a great summertime sipper. Yum…
A bar and a coffee shop have joined forces here in NYC and have drinks to go. Trying to keep these places going, we picked up a couple of their cocktails in plastic pouches.
I went with the old fashioned.
It was a bit sweet and weak so I gussied it up a bit. Listening to Lou Donaldson’s Blues Walk.
that is awesome! I may have to make an old fashioned tonight =) I think my remodel is almost done…now where to hang my art…
