We are a low-drama, easygoing group. I don’t think many or any of the regulars are pure objectivists though (my THX AAA 789 amp is in a box). After reaching a certain quality (price) level, it’s often more relaxing to take off the sharp edges with a Class A amp and/or add harmonics with tubes. In the end, run your own race and be happy.
Yeah no, I can insert my reply right there: with source and transducer chains that I consider my highest-fidelity ones, there is no edge I want to take off, all the edges are there because they should be there, I need my best (critical-listening oriented) gear to not let my attention move away from the music. No relaxation, all listening all the way, full attention. But then of course, these sessions should last 2-3 hours max and be relatively rare and special (certainly not daily, mostly not even weekly). Also, ESS Sabre is my only god, I shall have no other gods before it.
Hello! And sorry for not introducing myself, I forgot to do that.
Got into the audiophile hobby around 2019/2020. started with harmless stuff like AT-M50x, DT770 Pro, that kinda stuff. Now currently using my Edition XS and S12 and enjoying my planar binge. But also own FiiO SP3 speakers.
Live in Luxembourg and am 24 years old.
Joe (FCDobbs) here. I guess Ive always been a bit of closet audiophile. I remember in my teens going into hifi shops listening to Mannheim Steamroller Fresh Aire 2. Went through my adult life with a Bryston amp and various pre-amps. Ended up with the Bryston, radial resistors on the ouput for volume. An oppo 205 directly fed to the amp. Downsizing now and getting into headphones in Ernest. Headphones arent the same feel. Hopefully I can make the transition. I have a schiit Mjolnir 3, Bifrost 2/64 and Audeze lcd-5 on the way. Anyway enough about me.
Hello. Welcome. Two things: new users can’t create topics, and second there is a purchase advice thread already. That, plus the general questions topic, cover most every one-off request.
