So I was diddling around, reading The Absolute Sound’s review of the Hifiman Shangri-La Jr electrostatic headphone and amp. The reviewer mentioned Stardust on this album, so I had to check it out. The very best of 1957. Nat King Cole’s first stereophonic album. Just beautiful production. And you won’t hear a better voice on “The Voice”.
ROON does a nice write up, and while I’d like to hear it on the Shangri-La, it sound gorgeous coming through the BF2 STAX tube amp Nectar Hive. And what a lineup of great songs! Not only Stardust, but Love is the Thing, Ain’t Misbehavin’ It’s All in the Game –
This album is graduate school in how to write, produce, and sing songs.
For Empy owners, if you like female vocals this album is just a stunner to my ears. A lot of it is recorded by her personally during the pandemic. The is a ton of details and reverb in many of the songs that just sounds fantastic on the Empy. Blood Ballet is one of my favorites!
