I was so clueless that I used to eat apples for fiber…they are 99% carbs and 1% fiber…
Potatoes are 100% carbs. Pasta 100% carbs. Bread 100% carbs. Dates 100% carbs. Honey 100% carbs. Soda 100% carbs. Fruit juice 100% carbs. Beer 50% carbs and 50% alcohol calories.
To much acid. Gets me all the time. That’s why I buy beans like Kona, Brazil, Kauai or Peru Andes Gold, Nicaragua, Sumatra in regular and Decaf) All are known for their low acidic levels.
got me a new toy a couple days ago. its been a nice upgrade over my prior Rocket Appartamento. More consistent shots so far, as well as the foaming is amazing. It can get very good microfoam in just seconds. So much power! I also never thought I’d be updating firmware on my espresso machine via a wifi-enabled app ever… but here we are.
I used to roast a lot. I started with a modified popcorn maker and then bought a Behmor roaster, but I havent used it in years. It’s just sitting in my garage. I have thought about selling or giving it away to someone who would use it more though. I got my beans from Sweet Maria’s mostly.
Do you use a scale? If so, what might you recommend? I should look on seattlecoffeegear.com, and Fellow has a new one out which interested me but it seems awfully pricey…
Its ehh ok. I dont use it too often anymore, but I may get a Acaia one if I ever decide to really go all out into scales for espresso. Apparently there’s a new firmware for the La Marzocco machines that syncs with these scales during brewing. Hah.
Seattle Coffee Gear is a fantastic shop. You should go into one of their stores since you’re a local! I go to the one at Alderwood fairly often since it’s close to me, but the Kirkland one is also pretty nice. The staff are always friendly and helpful!
I have the Acaia Lunar and happy with it so far but I’m not really using the flow tracking etc. features, so not sure if it’s worth its cost. Also waiting for the firmware update so the Micra can connect to it, mainly for tinkering
Another quick question - Did it come with a silicone base for the tamper part or was it one that you already had? (it don’t see any base in the product images and it is not mentioned in the description).
I buy from coffee roasters that are near and have same day roast and next day ship. Regardless where you are located and where you get your beans from, get on good terms with the roaster and they will treat you right.
I use Ladro coffee in Seattle, they do the same thing, I have a weekly order they ship, I get it the day after it’s roasted most weeks. I’d imagine it’s common.
And I do the same with Gerhart Coffee. Their Brazilian is a wonderful cup for regular coffee makers and their 1880 Espresso is my go to for the Phillips super automatic.
