MechWarrior 5 is out. Anyone else playing it?

I’ll have to check it out…but first I need to get through Jedi:Fallen order first…plus my stupid addiction to the new Call of Duty…

I played Witcher 3 on Xbox one. Didn’t 100% it though. Respect.

They tell me my Windows laptop will be fixed about Monday. It’s getting new fans. As you all know, I don’t much play games. If I wanted to, do I use the laptop to play games? Do they still come on DVD, or do I need a subscription? I’ve never gotten accustomed to computer or console game controllers. I was fine with arcades, joysticks, trackballs, but the hand-held always annoyed me. An keyboard commands also are terrible. Maybe that’s why my idea of gaming was like, Zork.

I did get one game a few years ago, but didn’t get very far with it. I’m not planning on buying a laptop. Oh, I did play Evony (similar to Civilization) for a long time when I was recovering from a broken neck, but later I got tired of spending money and getting up at 3 AM to defend cities.

You can go all-in-one arcade stick style

But if using your laptop…it depends on the laptop on what games you can run…but steam is pretty much king of PC gaming as of right now, which you can buy games digitally from them and directly download into/on to your laptop.

Cellphone games have also come along way…

Yes, I have a Steam account. I got it when I was doing some Space Trader turn-based game, not for anything fancy.

I guess my laptop is sufficient for gaming still. It’s a 2013 model, a Sager (Clevo 9150) that I bought as a workhorse when I was still doing publishing stuff. It’s running Win 10 Pro. Has an i7 3840 QM processor, Ivy Bridge, which was pretty fast for back then, 32 gig of RAM, and an SSD. Wireless is still only N. Has what was a good video card for laptop gaming back then - I still get driver updates to make it optimized for games.

Oh, I likeey the X-Arcade controller. Like my old Wico controllers. Built like a friggin’ tank. I think I could use that one.

So I am 100% Mac, I have a PS4 but will likely not use it much other than the racing game I have and for redbox blu rays as that would mean I have to do it in the theater room that is also connected to the kitchen and would likely take the TV away from my wife if she wanted to watch.

So I am thinking of playing some casual games on my IMAC which is pretty beefed up. I haven’t really gamed in quite a long time. I like Strategy games like civilization style, or I really loved World of Warcraft lol many years ago… don’t judge. It was definitely a guilty pleasure for a couple of years. What type of games are fun nowadays for casual gaming from a MAC? I’m thinking like maybe when I am home watching my daughter and she is taking a nap or when my wife is watching a reality TV show that I just can’t stomach lol. Thanks gents!

Hmmm… lots of fun easy to play games on Mac! I’ll try and put a list together tonight for you! I use Steam as it is the easiest way to game on the Mac…

share here. I’m game challenged. I sort of gave up after text adventures. I recall Ultima -Ultima III on Atari. Have steam. Have Mac, Have PC. Play space traders, Play Really Bad Chess - that’s fun. don’t like game controllers. Don’t like keyboards. I grok Duplicate Contract Bridge.

I have a couple of games in mind I think you will grok! Once beast mode is crashed out for the evening I’ll jump on the Mac and dig through the games and post what gems I find!

Thank you. Also played Evony when I was recovering from an accident. Spent way too much time and money. Achieved top 100 on several servers. Typical server showed 16K users, but probably 2000 or so real ones and the rest bots or secondary accounts used to feed primaries. Officer/vice/host of several alliances. Used bots to cheat like hell. So did everybody else. Sooner or later it became a bot programming challenge. Ran 20+ bots 24 hours a day. Woke up at 3 AM to defend cities from people with bigger budgets. Eventually became not fun.

On MacOS Steam something to keep in mind though is with MacOS Catalina some of the games might not work if they haven’t been updated from 32bit to 64bit so pay attention to that when looking at Mac games:

Slay the Spire: fun card battler rogue like, can be very addictive one more run type game. Graphics are pretty basic but gameplay is pretty fun.

Total War games: Fun strategy turn based. Think Risk but digital lol and way more involved.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker : this is more of your typical isometric RPG fantasy game

Darkest Dungeon: a turn based strategy game with a side view. Pretty dark and depressing but cool game

If you like Star Wars and haven’t played the Knights of the old republic yet it is highly recommended!
STAR WARS: Knights of the old republic: this is a turn based combat Star Wars game with a great story…graphics are a lil dated by todays standards but it is a fun and enjoyable romp…I’ve beaten this multiple times across multiple platforms

Ok…so bare with me here… this next game is probably one of my favorite games of all time… but it will take some skill with a mouse and keyboard or a controller…but when you get it…you will feel like John Wick or John Woo… it is a first person shooter…kind of… bullets and enemies only move when you ā€œmoveā€ so you can dodge bullets, deflect them with a sword, or block them with your gun or whatever is handy… I beat it on Xbox, and PC, and VR (Virtual Reality was the best experience!!!) any how…the game
SUPERHOT: Epic make you feel like a bad ass with a slowed time mechanic

Tropico 6 can be a lot of fun, you are a dictator of a paradise island nation lol

Northgard is another city builder RTS but based in Viking mythology

Company of Heroes 2 is a fun squad based RTS game pretty fun moving troops around the field. Setting is WW2

If you have a controller and like old Arcade beat em’ ups then I can’t recommend Castle Crashers enough!

Another fun quick one more game addictive RTS strategy game is Into the Breach very cool mechanic

Ok this one is a must art piece…it is beautiful and not to challenging…but I do recommend a basic controller: GRIS

a cheap easy fun city builder ISLANDERS

if you like action rpgs like Diablo 1-3 than, Torchlight 2 is a fun game to kill time with and all you really need is a mouse and basic understanding of a keyboard

If you like walking simulators with cool stories Firewatch controller would probably be easiest with this one as well but a mouse and keyboard are easy enough. It isn’t overly complicated.

This next one is an interesting social experiment Kind Words (lo fi chill beats to write to) essentially you are writing nice letters to real people…

Stardew Valley Farm simiulator with SNES graphics…I’m not really into these types of games…but it is extremely popular so it’s doing something right!

Gorogoa another art game but can be used with just a mouse I believe…I have it on my phone…it is a puzzle game with cool visuals and art

Ok this one is hilarious I’ve watched a lot of videos of it haven’t played yet though Totally Accurate Battle Simulator

Lost Lands and Grim Legends series are point and click adventure puzzle game

80 Days just buy it! great game…plus it can be fun to play with others helping make decisions

Her Story just a trip! essentially you are trying to solve a mystery and it is pretty cool how they do it. Just need to know how to point and click a mouse and type words

Any game by Klei Entertainment lol they make a big diverse group of easy on the eyes games full of strategy to survival to platformers

Legend of Grimrock this is an oldschool dungeon crawler with pretty cool graphics! It is how I envisioned a lot of fantasy text rpgs to look like in my head lol

OSMOS relaxing beautiful game with easy mechanics

that should be enough to get you guys started =) I catered mostly to what you said you enjoyed playing so there is a mix of genres

Ive been playing Destiny 1 and 2 for 5 years now. Its like a bad date that you cant get rid of.
I get burned out(often)and picked up Surge 2 to pass the time til Cyberpunk 2077 dropped, but my old reflexes cant keep up in Surge 2 and Cyber has been delayed until September :frowning: so its back to D2…sigh

At least Iron Banana starts tomorrow.

I was gladdened and sad about Cyberpunk 2077 being delayed. I want to play so bad, but don’t want to be a beta tester at launch like every Activision title ever released, ever.

I’m on a burnout period with it currently haven’t turned it on since the end of the last season… but yeah it’s like the girlfriend that you break up with and won’t leave lol… and you end up just continuing the relationship because it’s just there… oh, man, bad memories lol… stupid young dumb Tyler ha!

I’m also glad Cyberpunk 2077 is delayed, it will give me time to beat some other games hopefully before I’m sucked into that world!!
