I started with them in that galaxy far far away and a long time ago( including the FULLA and Gungnir) still have 'em or gave them to a good friend who loves 'em–I posted this elsewhere but now have and am playing with big(or is it better to say large Schiits?)–Ragnarok 2 and Yggdrasil GS( in black no less) that my CFO let me buy-- that DAC is one Schiitload of a headphone amp

It is wonderful I got it when I noticed a post about it and then realized it was only few 100$ more than the Gungnir multibit then Chris(The Computer Audiophile said ‘get it’) the only difference is the (?) analog board is #1 not #2 and supposedly the two don’t sound much different everything else is same ie GEN5USB etc.The CFO never noticed the price difference when she paid the AE bill!!
I can’t believe how much better it is than my old Gungnir sigma delta and even my ME2 which I have connected to the AMP.
Oops I meant to say that the AMP is one Schiitload of a headphone amp

Ok, has anyone heard / own / ( or preferably) compared the Asgard 3 here?
I’m having a devil of a time finding any impressions on this thing. The Head-Fi “impressions” thread is almost 60 pages of useless. The Friends site has a few good reviews, but I’d love an impression from someone outside that forum.

Okayyyy. I’m the new guy to the thread. I’ve taken up this ridiculous hobby and am enjoying the snot out of it. Vali 2… Magni3… Loki (EQ)…EITR… SYS… FULLA2… Bifrost… Asgard 2… and the Valhalla 2. And, yes, the Cthulhu floor-wart. I enjoy gear that has that utilitarian look and punch well above their proverbial weight class. I’m looking forward to reading the thread’s back issues. Thanks, eh.

I picked up a ‘classic stack’ as a way to control my upgrade-itus and audio-nervosa (as I was hell-bent on upgrading to a Gungnir-Multibit DAC). I just don’t need the XLR outputs/inputs on the current Bifrost 2 & Gungnir. And Asgard 3? I prefer components that only do one task (unused slots make me [illogically] cringe). The Asgard 2 is plenty of amp for me. No regrets (and the price was right). My 2 cents…

Awesome! Welcome to the forum, I have been thinking about the Vali 2 with the matching DAC or possibly the LYR 3 to introduce myself to Tube Hybrids!

I may not NEED the XLR on the current Bifrost, but it does work out really well my MacMini to some kind of DAC to STAX AMP and/or Lyr3 chain that I could put together. The STAX has XLR inputs just ducky for my old SR5Ns and maybe something new, and the Lyr3 can power everything else.
Now all I need to do is liberate the requisite cash from my tight little paws and pull a trigger. Oh yes, what kind of silencer do we recommend so that the better half doesn’t grok in fullness when I pull the trigger?
This will eventually happen. Not sure of the order.

I do have Vali 2 with and upgraded tube that at some point I’ll have to sell, in fact, all my “basic” Schiit will be for sale at some time after January, when we return from the vacations.
Laziness and some hoarders instincts have been restraining me from sell them.

One of the best parings for me has been the Schitt Vahalla 2 with high impedance cans like the HD600’s T90’s and T1’s…had my V2 for a few years…and the main reason for buying it was I wanted to see how a more powerful amp would work with high impedance cans…the V2 has more power available than another OTL amp I built…
The Schitt V2 does a great job with these cans…

A complete DAC revamp for all models incorporating Unison and modularity / upgradability features as found on Bifrost 2. That’s my bet. (Unison is a no brainer, as it’s already been announced.)
If true, hopefully you’ll see a new I2S input on Yggy.

Would love a black CD transport with a remote and SACD support, not wider or deeper than a RME ADI 2 or the THX AAA 789 in size
Just skip the notebook, tablet or phone as source sometimes… and listen to whole albums
I know it’s called vinyl - don’t want to mess with it, at the moment and this rabbit hole is so freaking deep. Got over 1500 CDs and just a handfull records.
