Haha, that’s exactly how I would describe it. My wife (who is extremely smart, but not a tech person) is completely helpless when it fails. But I think @pennstac can step up to the challenge
LG LG43QNED75
This device was not found in the Harmony database
I think the essential problem is that this TV is VERY NEW. The OS was just released, and it may have some different codes than eariler LG product.
I had to bluetooth my soundbar to the TV to get volume to work properly. Using the optical out required that I have a separate volume remote for the soundbar. This might be solved by something like the Harmony if the update Harmony to handle the new LG TV.
@pennstac may be up to the challenge but his wife is just like your wife.
Fed-Ex just came. Two packages scheduled today, this is the first. They made my wife sign for it. It’s for Kismet, she probably should have just given her pawprint.
Alright…warning. I’m going to be a downer and I don’t normally get too personal but in light of National Dog Day today, I want to cheers all of our four legged canine family members.
National Dog Day
National Dog Day is a holiday that’s observed on the [26th of August] every year and helps people recognize the importance of dogs and how they impact our lives on a personal basis. It’s also a day that’s used by various dog charities and individuals interested in the welfare of pets to draw attention to the plight of abused and abandoned dogs.
Been a last couple days….
Dexter (aka “Mini-Man”) tilting his head innocently as I ask why he’s all muddy? Lol (From the hole he dug in the backyard)
We’ll miss you buddy!
Give your pups and extra treat and hug for Dog Day !! They bring so much joy but man, It f*#*ing sucks when they go.
It sure does, I feel for you
Condolences Audiophool.
Just a few hours left in National Fountain Pen Day
Resistance was futile … at least on my end.
What temptation did you succumb to? I merely wrote with several of my 5 or 6 fountain pens that I don’t collect. Really. You have to look up Birmingham Pen Company, not that I would ever point you there, but I got one of their handmade aluminas, which my admin says is my “Boss Pen”. I know it says “sold out” but they are one-offs, and will probably make more.
I did a bit of shopping and treated myself to the new Pelikan Art Collection pen. A dream!
I am familiar with Birmingham Pen Co, - did buy some stuff while we lived in the US. Back into the German brands now.
It was pretty slow at work today, and I snuck it a bit of time looking at YouTube on my iPad. Well not really sneaky, as I was in the office alone, and I’m the boss, and it was on my own equipment.
But seeing some of these screens took me back to simpler times, Windows for Work Groups, aka Windows 3.11. The first version that seemed sort of stable in a network environment.
So the creator likes to play with scammers, and is always pretty amusing. He uses different voices, and personae. This was pretty good:
Anyone gone down the model railroading rabbit hole? Back when I was a kid - and even as a young adult, I had my American Flyer S gauge. And I recall friends (and their Dads) with incredibly large Lionel O gauge railroads.
This year, my beloved spouse encouraged me to put a train around the tree at work. As I’d always wanted passenger and not freight as a kid, I went to a local train hobby shop and grabbed me some entry-level HO. (Still have a few bits coming). Just temporary, no place to put up a permanent layout.
So I think maybe I ought to upgrade a bit - the loco says DCC-ready, and by next year, perhaps I should add the DCC sounds and maybe expand a bit. Illuminate the cars - my American flyer ran on AC, and the one passenger car I had came with a light bulb. Now they want $45 for the car and $34 for a lighting kit that makes you replace the chassis of the car…
If anyone has gone down this rabbit hole, I’d appreciate advice from someone who is not actually trying to sell the equipment. And the Bachman EMD E7 loco says it’s DCC Ready, but I don’t find a recommended drop-in decoder.
If you are going down rabbit holes anyway, and want to DIY:
I went down this rabbit hole in 1969. It’s very comfortable now.
My HO equipment is in one of the walk-in closets, I had a small switching layout prior to our move into this house in 2014. I want to create a much larger setup, and do have the room to do so, but I’ve had much to much other hobbies ( Stereos & Headphones ahem. ) so I haven’t started.

3D Printing for HO scale models? Been there done that, but not trains. For slot cars, Aurora Thunderjet 500.
Both of those reminded me of ….
Probably wouldn’t fly today. All those hot metal parts, the fire risk and whatever the goo was you cooked.
Barbie still has hers. Getting hard to find the 100 watt incandescent light bulbs it needs for heating.
