Well the folks who categorize this say “New Age” but I don’t think that’s really true. It’s more an interpretation of some ancient world music. Not something I’ve ever heard on Radio Paradise. Been a favorite for many years. I didn’t realize the sub bass content until recently with my office setup and my RAD-0.
Right? One of the best tracks I’ve heard in a fair while honestly
I posted some comments about how there are 27 versions of Montana shown in ROON in the Favorite Covers topic, but the main thing is a great look at some vintage Zappa. I saw him a couple of times when he was in the Overnite Sensation and Apostrophe period. He would still play some of the Hot Rats Grand Wazoo Waka Jawaka stuff in concert, even though the new albums were more jazz fusion.
Never boring. This release has some interesting outtakes and alternate mixes.
I’d never heard of Louis the Child, but I listened to some of his Black Marble and really enjoyed the deconstructed Dragnet. 17 versions of Dragnet on ROON… rabbit hole.
What kind if coincidence is it that I had posted about Black Marble & Sweet Fire without having read your posting before I had my links in hand to post.
The Reid Willis is very nice also.
Not my usual thing, but this sounds so good on the Helios. Almost like it was made for music like this.
6- and 12- String Guitar sounded wonderful through the Gungnir MB, Folkvangr, and Atrium trinity. Particular songs of note:
- The Driving of the Year Nail
- The Fisherman
- Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
I was looking for some energetic jazz and came across this very interesting band, having coined the term “death jazz” to describe their music, very interesting and engaging Japanese club jazz sextet from Tokyo.
This Christmas morning I’m currently going through a catalog of The Swing Years and Beyond playlists and adding them to my Apple Music stack. This song signaled 7pm on a Saturday night during my formative years when all I had was FM and dial-up:
Listening to it on the Bifrost 2 > Asgard 3 > ZMF Atrium chain, it’s incredibly lush and warm. Maybe too lush. I received a bottle of Four Roses for Christmas and it isn’t even opened…yet.
Yes, yes indeed. Nice to hear again.

Got a little lost in the music. After seeing “Chaise Longue” by Wet Leg in some of the 2022 favorites, and having listened to that track, I pulled out the HD-580 Precision phones, fired up ROON with the proper convolution filter, plugged in my IFI-GO (first use) and listed to the whole Wet Leg album. And watched the lyrics in ROONs lyric view. Lots of fun. I forgot I was trying to evaluate something.
For anyone who likes radiohead, theres a group called “The Smile”.
Two of the three members are from Radiohead, and the style is simply fantastic.
The Icehouse / Flowers album. Love it. That’s the band that ignited my interest in Australian artists in general.
If you like synthwave, I highly recommend this album. Fantastic!
Some of the best “sadboi,” melancholic, melodic and progressive death metal I’ve ever heard. The musicianship quite frankly blew my mind.
This has been on repeat since @GoldenSound recommended it weeks ago. Outfriggenstanding!
Always a good listen
