What music have you been listening to this past week?

This?

Pretty cool sound! @Torq we should get @taronlissimore and some others on a Xbox game sometime lol

That’s the one.

Though I am pretty sure whomever recorded that did it off their speakers and not directly form the source (not that it is bad, but it’s a bit hollow). Try the files here, instead.

I’m always game to flash some tail-lights in Forza. But if it’s FPS we’re playing … I’ll be hiding in a bush somewhere.

Forza is certainly the best Car game franchise on the Xbox one IMHO.

I’m more of an Assetto Corsa type myself but I only use PC.

I play Assetto Corsa and Forza on PC. Both are great games and just depends how much of a simulator you want.

Lately I’ve been listening to an album called Kind of Spain that’s performed by the who’s who of European jazz musicians - but most specifically I’ve been getting into Studnitzky (who also plays on this recording) - He’s got what I’d describe as the most accessible jazz that involves trumpets or horns of any kinds. Even if you’re not into that kind of music, this may change your mind about it.

Without speculation as to why, I’ve found myself listening to Civil Twilight this week, specifically the title track from their last album.

Not sure if there are many progressive metal/rock fans over here, but I’ve been listening a lot of Haken, Dream Theater and Steven Wilson lately. I was in a “heavier” mood before that (Periphery, TesseracT, Killswitch Engage, Trivium), but it seems like the classics never get old.

By the way, for those interested, there’s a band local to me that’s called “Universe Effects” and they’re very talented. The guitarist won “Guitarist of the Year 2018”, which is a pretty big competition for amateurs in England I believe. Here’s his performance in the finals : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmzslMRhiSg .

Today I came across this album on Spotify that I hadn’t heard:

I think it is ok but I prefer the original (maybe because I have heard it so many times):

(As a little off topic, I started listening to it on the KZ ZS10 Pro as I am getting ready to post the review soon. After the first couple of tracks, I decided to switch to the HD6XX (running from the P20) and it was like turning the A/C on in a hot room, it felt much much better  )

I just got my ZS10 pro yesterday, haven’t open the box yet.
How is the P20 working for you?

I like it. It is the only desktop amp I have in the office and I use it to run the HD6XX and the Beyerdynamic Custom Studios (the two headphones I keep at work) depending on whether I need open or closed back at the time.

As my time in the office is spent doing other things (that horrible stuff called work) I listen to music as a secondary thing so I am not focused on specific details, I find the P20 good for this. I even (finally) got around to ordering some new tubes for it last week.

Thanks!! I have read about it and complaints about the power adapter and the tubes are common .

I finally got around to listening to this album today and I must say that it is not what I expected from Madonna! I mean this in a good way! Where some “older” artists just keep doing the same stuff over and over again, Madonna has really done something up to date but at the same time pretty original to separate herself from 90% of what keeps getting churned out daily.

I have a question about this song. I am listening to it on Spotify (via the M2X) and during the piano part in the middle, specifically at 1:44 and 1:56, it is distorted in the left channel. Does your version of this album have the same?

I’m starting to really dislike using music videos as a way to share music. I notice that I focus more on the video than I do the music. Unfortunately, not everyone subscribes to the same music services (if they subscribe to one at all) so finding a universal platform forces us to YouTube, for better or worse.

This thought was highlighted when I listened to Soilwork’s tracks “Full Moon Shoals” and “Stålfågel” on YouTube. I really like the songs, but the videos are… frankly… pretty bad and low budget. To be expected from an off-the-beaten-path kind of rock band, I suppose.

So… do me a favor, if you click these links, minimize the video and just listen to the song. I’ll feel better if you do.

Short answer, nope!

Great point and I agree wholeheartedly. I really dislike using YouTube for music as the videos are always a distraction to me.

Sounds like we need a poll, topic and ranking for how best to share music. I should call my developer friends at Adobe and suggest a PMF to go with the PDF. You can actually (sort of) stream PDF, but documents tend to go so fast that they’re there before you know it.

But I too have this problem. Discogs often has something I can use. Or You Tube. I mean, You Tube is great when the video is important (Leningrad Cowboys), but what should I use?

I think I still have a plain Spotifiy login, never use it. I often link to TIDAL because that’s my go-to. Apple Music? there are those that aren’t in the eco-system. Deezer? nope.
