I believe I’m the only one using Amazon Music in this forum!! It can not be the worst of the choices or is it?
No, MTV is far worse!!
Well… that’s a relief.
I don’t mind videos myself – they communicate the era, production budget, target market, and often the broader artistry of the performer (e.g., Tool and Bjork built their careers with videos). One can quickly determine whether a performer is playing by predictable rules or going for something unique.
For routine listening I don’t want or need videos.
Last night, I was listening to some Al Gromer Khan and Amelia Cuni’s dark and brooding album, Monsoon Point, (on Hifiman HE-560, from iPad to iFi xDSD to Lyr3). Trying to listen before going to sleep, in a darkened room - perhaps the best environment for this album, something made me want to listen to an old favorite.
I was trying to sleep, but I couldn’t. Had words going around inside of my head.

Yes, those of you who recall 1972 may have already figured it out. I was laying there in the dark, cranking it up, and singing along to a great (if quirky) summer fun live album.

The last week or so has been this album on repeat with a few others mixed in:

I have been listening to the 24 bit/ 192 khz version off Qobuz.
The whole theme to the album is being on the road, as such all recordings are either live in concert- recorded in a hotel room, tour bus etc. With that being said the quality of the recordings are incredible. There is a fair amount of detail to be picked up when listing with a good set up as well. While this is one of Browne’s more relaxed and easily accessible albums, the music is very expressive and most of the album gives a great feeling of connection to the artist and emotions felt while writing.
I want to be very clear that I’m sharing this because it’s a catchy song, and a stellar recording.
Love it-- here’s my fave version:
This song reminds me of my 16-18 year old self lol I grew up in a small town (I’m still slowly going back through my Spotify “Liked” songs and this one is a good summer song, if you don’t mind pop country
With the release of Tool’s entire discography on streaming services like Spotify and Tidal on the 2th of August, I couldn’t resist listening to songs from my younger years. I remember listening to the 10 000 days album when it came out in 2006 and being blown away. This band still amazes me, almost 14 years later. Can’t wait for the new album coming out this month !
I will have to check it out! I remember my roommate for Military school was a huge fan and I ended up picking up two of their albums at the time…damn near 20years ago…
Never buy a used Tool CD. I bought 3 back in the day and each was badly scratched. I’m guessing those animated beasties jumped off the cover art in some supernatural fashion. Can’t blame the owners for being stoners, can I?
I’ve been listening to 10,000 Days all morning. I saw them back on this tour. Can’t believe it was 13 years ago now!
Glad to see they are digital finally and have a new record coming.
Catchy song, but what the hell did I just watch.
I don’t know, but I want some coffee from Smutbucks.
This dude…I wish I had talent like that back when I was that age lol… I had no problem with approach, but dang, music and quick thinking singing #wins at getting the ladies attention lol, he is full on peacocking ha!
