What music have you been listening to this past week?

A continuation from the “Covers” thread…

Watching this song being performed in an intimate Chapal was a remarkable experience I will never forget.

The mastery of his playing is astounding. His “rasgado”, and general speed and precision while still conveying emotion… Pretty magical stuff.

A classic, for sure. And from my favorite.

That Trentemøller Chameleon song is a trip. I plugged in my Eikons to my 3F and turned it up a bit. Around the 30 second mark - and I swear this actually happened - they leaped off my head, cried havoc, and made it halfway down the block before I could catch them.

True story.

The Sennheiser HD-6xx powered by Lyr3 did not complain at modest volume, but they did ask me to play Mau5villle Level 3 afterwards.

HD600’s been around since the dinosaurs and has been an exceptional headphone for sure. I bought a full price set just to see what the Senn house sound was…and its one that I have kept around for years letting go cans that cost 2-3 x the price…

… listening to my demo playlist with them as I type…Richard Southers Cross Currents CD.

I don’t have 600s. Got 580 Precision when they first came out. To simulate 600s I need to listen to the 580 and 6xx at the same time and divide by two.

@ValentineLuke - I’m sure the acoustics were great in that space, too! I was lucky to see Jeff Buckley in a small church in Noe Valley SF in ‘94 - actually got there early and sat on the piano bench up front, waiting for someone to tell me move, I guess. Nobody did, and I watched the band from a few feet away in an amazing space - best live show I’ve ever seen.

That’s awesome!

I’ve had a few experiences where I just ‘acted like I belonged’, and it just seemed to workout.

It’s when someone asks “How do you know ‘X’?” Is when it can get awkward. But usually by that point it’s all good.

@ValentineLuke - fortunately nobody asked me to play! A few years of lessons, but practice was very limited… Actually it was such a small space I think nobody cared.

@Audiophile

There are mixed reviews on this specific album?
What do you think of the overall quality of recording?

I never heard of this person, but would like to try this…

Thanks

I have all her albums. She’s fantastic. Going to one of her concerts soon.

I find this specific album well done. My CDs and SACD are run on a Luxman d-08u player/dac. So it brings out lots of details, etc. No complaints with this CD.

I’ve been starting to listen to some more Infected Mushroom recently, seeing as it looks like a new album is on it’s way.

And of course, one of the main genres I listen to is neurofunk, and I recently discovered Qo.
