What music have you been listening to this past week?

I haven’t listened to them in years! Thanks for the reminder. :call_me_hand:

I’ve watched a few of his concerts on Sky tv over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed them. Very talented man.

This week I have been revisiting my early teenage years and listening to some of my favourite bands of the time namely The Specials and OMD. No specific Album or Song but going through the entire back catalogue that is available on Spotify. I also have a few Specials CD’s ripped in Flac. The Specials don’t record smooth Audiophile type recordings but what you do get are the gritty real lyrics from that era.

what a coincidance! - I started 2 days ago with this album- did not know about the band or is it a “project” … just read somewhere Ian @Torq mentioning it
funny who is featured on song #10

the converting vegetarians CD is quite nice produced, so I took out my DT 1990 Pro with analytical pads and it was great
like both are made for each other. Had not used it for a long time for enjoyment listening

It’s a Israeli duo that creates psytrance. They’ve been making music since the early 00’s. Maybe even earlier. 2-3 years ago, they joined Monstercat after leaving DIM MAK Records. They’ve come quite a far way.

This album will blow your mind, and is one I have been listening to since I was a teenager.

Enjoy!

The Flaming Lips recent album, King’s Mouth: Music and Songs (2019)

This one returns to the mellow atmospherics of The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. There’s not too much wacky experimental noise.

Or, on Tidal:

This one is just a fun blend of rock, blues, and techno.

I really want Masters of the rest of Depeche Mode’s catalogue.

I’m loving these songs more than the first movie or maybe was to much of Let it go and I end up tired of it.
When you have kids 80% of your time is around kids stuff.
I could suggest more than one Bubble Guppie’s songs deserving a Grammy… and I’m serious about it.

This is my favorite ‘kids’ album.

This album will blow your mind, and takes me on a ride every time I listen.

Qobuz has a few hi-res Depeche Mode albums in the mix.

Yeah, Tidal pretty much has the same ones as “Masters”, or MQA files.

I just want some of their other albums in that format, like Violator, Songs of Faith…, Ultra, etc.

I may have to try Qobuz. A lot of people seem to like it.

Thank you.

Pulling out another 3 albums I can highly recommend from this week.

First up is Nidarosdomens jentekor (jentekor translates to girl’s choir) & Trondheimsolistene with their excellent album “Lux”. This is a classical/choir album that sounds stunning. The surround mix version of this album also recently got the producer a grammy for “best immersive audio album”, a fact I was made aware of after mentioning that I listened to it to someone. Personal favorite is “Hymn to love”

Second is ionnalee’s album “EVERYONE AFRAID TO BE FORGOTTEN” which is an electronic/pop album by the same person behind iamamiwhoami. This might be somewhat of an acquired taste but it sounds great. Personal favorite from this one is “WATCHES WATCHES” and “WORK”. This album definitely gets my highest recommendations.

Lastly I want to mention Theophany’s (second) album that is composed of remixes of various The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask tracks: “Time’s end II: Majora’s Mask”. Some of these tracks are downright the most immersive headphone experiences I have ever had, just absolutely incredible work. Personal favorite is “Woods of mystery”.

Hope someone finds something new they enjoy in these albums! I try to share stuff that might not be too well known as well as varying in genres/style.
