I have v very similar feelings about them lol! They sound fantastic until they don’t… jokes aside they get treble hot real quick and I couldn’t listen for very long… on chill mid focused tracks they sound really good though. But most of the stuff I have had normal treble and that can get stabby quick
Yeah, I suspect they’re a “classical music” IEM! I have the HD 800 and still found the A8000 bright - not more so but bright in a slightly different way.
Looking forward to your four-way shootout!
I have a quad mached set of telefunkens that i’ll put inboth and compare this weekend. I dont think either is better. I just like the sonic signature of the t4 more and they are close enough that I possibly dont need to keep them both. The mz2 is much more cleaner and detailed with more sparkle. I like the detailed smoothness of the t4. Well maybe im liking it more right now because its new to me🤷♂️. Time will tell. They both have warm side of neutral tubes inside. Mullards cv4024in t4, mullards ecc81 in the mz2
Cool. Quad matched Telefunkens are a valid common denominator ha. T4, MZ2, and Pendant are amps I’d like to compare side by side (all are non single ended triode amps, if my understanding is correct that the Pendant uses pentode power tubes). I was just inquiring as the MZ2 with stock tubes can be underwhelming to ears not specifically looking for the ZOTL sound. Interesting that the MZ2 sounds that way even with Mullards. I have Mullards and Amperex landing today.
I had four set of Amperex arrive today. OMG did the bugle boys sound bad for the first 30 minutes. Getting a lot better after 12 hours.
Wow four sets. Go big or go home! My Bugle Boys sound pretty good right off the bat. Enjoy.
@generic sorry I spaced getting this for you!
Tommy Bahama shirts? Looks similar.
Nice. Gotta pair your listening shirt with equipment. Aloha.
Did you get it with the crossfeed intact or disabled? Also how does it compare to the T4?
I didn’t ask about the cross feed. My understanding is that it’s removed for current builds but I don’t know.
My first impression is that it’s punchier than the T4 but still very enjoyable.
I would like to hear your impressions on it at some point if possible. I have been thinking of doing the same but haven’t heard any set ups with and without a power conditioner to compare. Looks great!
Plugged it in last night and its amazing! Another good power conditioner that doesn’t hinder dynamics(that’s the key) is the Audioquest Niagara 1000. I use that one too.
A good power strip (without conditioning) is ps audio juice bar where each outlet is individually connected instead of in clumps making all the outlets as good as plugging into the wall. Most power strips don’t share this quality and can have sonic limitations
Im surprised i don’t see power conditioners talked about a lot outside of 2channel setups.
They are definitely worth trying at least to experience it and if you don’t like it then you can cross that out off the list. Highly recommended especially for people in areas with noisy lines ex. Big cities, etc.
I read in a review that it is disbled in new builds unless asked differently. The review also said the crossfeed was very subtle. I wonder if there are any other popular amps that incorporate a crossfeed into their circuitry without a way to turn it off?
It’s purdy… Does it work?! Any A/B testing?
Edit: nevermind just saw your impressions, I’m slow on the uptake!!
Ill do some serious a/b between this and my ps audio juice bar non chain nditioner power strip and will message you will my results
I’m interested in hearing your impressions as well.
I think clean power is often overlooked in the hobby. If you think about it, everything in the audio signal starts at the outlet.
Cheers!
