What's in the box!

No, I don’t have that. I find they match each other quite well and not too warm.
The hard part is to find a place to test it in the US.

I just received the most exciting box I have received this year.

In it were two items that I am really looking forwards to spending some time with…

Yeah, well I’m used to that. Everything I have I’ve bought blindly. There’s no place within a 5 hr drive of me that has anything above consumer products…The BestBuy Desert :cactus:

Well, both Dac’s should be easy to get rid off again. I bought the Ares II blindly, but after the many reviews I had studied, I was quite sure it was the right one.

Taking into account that it’s a one and done system plus the reference level sound quality that you get, I would definitely consider it a bargain. There’s no messing with DAC nor amplification selection, just set it up and enjoy the music with lots of added conveniences such as Spotify, Tidal Connect, Roon Ready, Chromecast, Bluetooth. It’s hard to beat the performance and flexibility of the LS50W system at its asking price. You can get the OG LS50W as cheap as $1.2k these days which is a steal for a 2 channel hi-fi system.

Speaking of LS50 looks like the LS50Meta have arrived!

I’ve found that the Ls50’s need really good components upstream to it in order to really shine. When I used a receiver with it the sound was good but when I added a better separate amp it opened up so much that I realized why it has been a speaker of the year in so many publications. On my Ref75 VU meter the ls50s easily gobbled up 10-20watts without pushing to extremes in my 20’x20’ room.

If you have a sub, you might have fun allowing to do all the heavy lifting under 80Hz and plug the rest of the frequency into the Nautilus. In a small room that might be a fun thing to try. Maybe even go higher than 80Hz. As the higher the less watts the kef will suck out of the very little power the nautilus gives.

It’s worth a shot to try for funsies

I know. But what’s a lifelong audiophile to do when he no longer has to spend hours and hours swapping DAC’s, amps, cables to squeeze out that last 0.5% of synergy? What, have conversations with our SO?

Hahahaha fair point! Life would become meaningless at that point. LOL

Nice. I’m thinking on adding a pair of these after I get my ZMF Closed Verite and save up again. Enjoy!

From my understanding, it does “similar” things that the Mscaler does? it basically is voodoo to me… but, hopefully, after putting it through some tracks I’ll better be able to describe what it does from my perspective

Judging by the box cover, it teletransports you to the 80’s
