After an extended vacation to California for some repairs, my LCD-4 is back with new ear cups and drivers!
This last one is under less harsh lighting and much closer to the natural color in most conditions.

Thank you, I have tried the 6080, 6AS7G, 7236 all NOS and like them all for a variety of reasons. So far with about 30 min of listening it is like a combo of the 6080/7236 which is amazing in my OTL.

Curious what amp? My impressions are the similar. I noticed a difference in the Bass of the 5998 and that’s what I prefer about it. To me it seemed cleaner, tighter and deeper.

I have a Woo WA3, using a pair of 6922 Amperex driver tubes, yes the bass is a huge difference in my limited time. Both top and bottom end is amazing.
What amp are you using with it?

Euforia AE. It’s good to know that others hear similar things. Sometimes I think I’m hearing what I want to hear. 
I’m also driving Empy’s which are a bit polarizing. The 5998 changed the bass in ways that seemed to address some of what I heard criticized about them.

What a great OTL, yeah I am trying to not have confirmation bias and it is hard. Need more days to asses. Happy to grabbed it for a decent price as they are getting into the $300+ territory

Matched quad of Gold Lion KT88’s
The custom made adapters for allowing the Euforia to run the KT88’s won’t arrive for another month or so, so that means I’ll have plenty of time to get a good feel for these NOS 6SN7’s.
