I didnt know they carried it. Is that something they’re trying out to see if its worth selling?
Didn’t come in a box but got this yesterday. Comparing the Nautilus in size to the Bigger Ben. Then I managed to put the amp on the desk and hoping my back doesn’t complain tomorrow. Definitely testing the limits of my desk.
I must admit, it’s amazing to see more and more progression, the power and impact of the music from amp to amp, going up the line, how clean and powerful the music sounds with each amp. I’ve gone from Schiit Jotunehim to Schiit Mjolnir2 to Auris ha2sf to Auris Nirvana to Ampsandsound Bigger Ben to A&S Nautilus. This change or line of amps is a progression in level of sound, music and detail, etc. Each amp was another notch, hard to explain without listening and experiencing these changes, this line of amps. Lots of changes over the last couple months. Each change has brought the music to another level. Not sure whats out there beyond the Nautilus but I honestly don’t want and need to know…
I wanted to say on a side note also. I’m really surprised how little people know about the Bigger Ben. It’s an amazing amp for not much more than (well, kind of) the Mogwai SE with Jupiter caps and a little more than the Ovation but the Bigger Ben has more flexibility. Especially if you see one in the wild at used prices to be had at the price of the Mogwai SE or less, I would have thought it would be a no brainer. More variance of resistance choice, bigger choke, bigger transformer, it’s just a better amp. I’m going to get together with @Earmuffs in the next week. We are going to compare the Mogwai SE to the Bigger Ben and Nautilus. We will have a ladder dac and sabre dac. Macbooks will be our input and I don’t know if you call this a con, but all we have are the ZMF headphones to test against this line. (no planar’s or other options). We have the Eikon, Atticus, Verite open and Verite closed. (not sure if Earmuffs wants to bring the Aeolus also but I think we’ve got some of the best from ZMF) It will be interesting to hear how each amp, dac and headphone compares

This arrived today, fortunately I had the day off!
So far all I can say is amazing! Many have commented, but the whole unboxing experience oozes quality, and it sounds stunning. Using with Schiit Bifrost 2, Asgard 2, and Lyr 3 (primarily). I’ll be listening late tonight

Its the Walnut Burl. At least its supposed to be. Quite a bit lighter than the pics.

It’s not listed on the website yet but it will be soon. We had a couple people interested in trying it out with their systems they got from us so we had a demo that went out.
We still haven’t had the chance to bring it up to Canada to listen to it ourselves yet though

Interesting! I have never seen Walnut Burl look that color? However, looking at some pics online, I was able to find some Walnut Burl that color, and I really like it. I am taking delivery of my SE today, and wonder what color wood I am gonna get? Honestly, I will be happy with either color, but I had my sights set on the darker Walnut Burl that ZMF has pictures of on their website.
The Tungsram welded plate ECC82 is a killer tube no doubt, and it is a shame they are so hard to find. I think anyone would live this tube, as it is so well balanced with very natural sounding tonality.
