Topping makes great gear - enjoy!
Let’s hope, so far it sounds the way I want it too. I got the D30 pro and even though that wasn’t a bad DAC it was a defective unit.
Only got this cause I wanted a higher AKM dac. All the 4499’s are even more expensive and all Chinese manufactured. Plus it was 10% off and tax free😆
Custom pads for my Grado’s from Silvian of Beautiful Audio. This guy does such beautiful work. This is my second set and I can’t live without them, they are absolutely essential for a more comfortable fit.
He was also kind enough to send me some replacement foam for my older set of pads. He is thorough and prompt in his work. I took verified measurements with my calipers and sent pictures so he was sure to capture the correct size of my ear cups. These really are custom handmade ear pads. Well worth every penny.
Been meaning to pick up a pair of their small hybrids for a while. This was a great reminder.
I was too excited to take a picture of the box, but here it is on my turntable.
The new mastering is SO GOOD. It sounds “LIVE” in a way the digital file never has to my ears.
I also just picked that up too! Will spin it soon! Got another Evans record in today too. Look into this album as it is a great one and by far the best recording quality of his albums.
Here are a couple others I got in the mail this week too!
Also that picture of your turntable is awesome. I like the lighting and how it is bouncing off the record surface. Makes me think of the Death Star.
This is a wonderful picture @chrisnyc75. That Turntable looks so good. Please could you tell me what it is as I know nothing about Turntables. Sorry if you’ve explained elsewhere but it’s esrly for me. Lol.
lol yeah, I have an LED strip right above it, so the reflections do neat things especially when I change colors.
Thank you. It’s called the E.A.T C-Sharp, with an Ortofon Quintet black cartridge. I’ve had it for about a year and really love it. The tonearm mechanism is a unique hybrid design, the metal is nickel plated aluminum and the tube is carbon fiber, so it’s light as a feather and basically floats.
Decided to try these out because I got a samsung credit with my new phone.
They’re acceptable with the “clear” eq preset, but out of the box, the midbass bloom is crazy to the point of being distracting.
Which doesn’t make much sense because the subbass extension seems fine.
I haven’t yet heard the new iteration - only the originals - but yeah, it’s odd that the bass has too much bloom considering the shelf is quite reasonable in the measurements (doesn’t seem to dip into the mids). Although, to be fair, it is a sub $200 TWS IEM.
Honestly, I may have jumped the shark. After some more listening, they’re not that bad.
I think I’m just so used to my Dusk that anything else sounds weird.
I can relate, as my B2 makes other IEMs sound wonky. Also, even though I couldn’t get it to fit well enough to keep, the SA6 is a sound I’ve never gotten out of my head, and I’m still expecting it whenever I put another IEM in.
I’m glad the Buds are starting to sound better to you. How’s the battery life been?
Battery life seems good so far. Long enough for it to not be an issue.
I’m wondering if the sound signature I was hearing before was a glitch. Put them in this morning and they actually sound pretty good.
They also seem comfortable enough to keep in for a good while, which is rare for me.
Through sheer cosmic timing these LTD Verite Closed in Olive arrived exactly a week after my Focal Utopias. They were not meant to land on my doorstep on each other’s heels. As a result, I’m in no position to give a detailed set of first impressions of these lovely ZMFs, because it’s hard to make distinctions and assessments when your ears are going in several new directions at once.
I will say the VCs are gorgeous, they sound superb and really come to life on my ampsandsound Kenzie Ovation’s 100-Ohm tap (they were a little reserved at 32 Ohms). My wife compared the Aeolus (a fine whisky) to the VC (a bubbling champagne) to the Utopias (a party - OK, the metaphor became mixed, but I know what she means), and that’s good enough and inscrutable enough for now.
As for me, I’m going to spend a good long while thinking what I think about each of these. Should be fun.
