What's in the box!

These feel pretty light. Head fit isn’t bad for me but I don’t have a ginormous head. I’m gonna burn them in a little more and see what happens.

I have some fun stuff coming later this week, but this will have to do for now:

Those cables are really good. I feel the music is more lyrical and it’s like the orchestra is here in the room! I can’t wait to plug them in. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m curious how different the MoFi SACDs sound from the older Dire Straits SACD and the really good Colombia Dylan SACDs (Nashville Skyline in this case).

Backed by Islay whiskeys!

I have all the Mofi Dire Straits SACDs and they sound great, don’t have any other versions in SACD to compare though.

Final component for my vinyl restoration fit-out

Hagerman Coronet 2 phonostage

Need to mount the cartridge this weekend, then spin some records

There’s a trick for this:

Wire them out of phase and place them facing each other 1" apart. Nearly all the sound is gone due to the opposite phase. Some highs leak but you can put a blanket over them.

It’s a weird trick but I had to throw it in the hat!

Hah!! Yes, that sounds very weird, which never bothers me, and I can see how that would work in theory at any rate. My problem is that I use my speakers for everything - music, TV, vids, etc, and it would be a chore doing all that moving speakers about. But thank you for the suggestion - I like hearing interesting ideas like that!

I’ve done the out of phase trick too, back in the days when I actually used my 2 channel system.

If it’s not practical to move your speakers, you could just play pink noise all night. It’s pretty constant in level and hopefully won’t be too disturbing to others trying to sleep. I tried using “break in” tracks that included sine waves, pink noise and random electronic sounds, and that lasted about 2 minutes, before my wife told me to end that f###ing noise if I didn’t want to see my speakers flying out the window.

Hah - the old flying speaker phenomenon - look out below! Where do you source the pink noise??

I wasn’t smart enough to make a note of where I downloaded it from, but I’m pretty sure it was from Audiocheck.net. They also offer brown and white noise if you want some variety.

Edit. The unhelpful note I’d left myself was ‘Head-Fi’. I know I’ve used Audiocheck for some burn-in downloads, but I have a feeling I got the pink noise from this burn-in thread on headfi. So maybe my note wasn’t as unhelpful as I thought.

Hmmm different sort of box.

Always liked a nicely turned ankle.

And it’s rare, out of print. But great theater organ.

Works for me - thanks!!

I’m a certified iFi audio fanboy now. (I guess the box spoils the surprise)

I had peeped this unit in a couple of Resolve’s reviews and the thing looked too sexy for it to not get my attention. Wasn’t looking to spend this much on an amp but damn it looks and sounds amazing.

(Look at the raytracing reflection on the table, the matrix is pretty cool huh )

Can you easily swap tube(s) out of it?

haven’t even thought about replacing tubes in this thing, but there are some screws in the back maybe the top plate can come off like that, doesn’t look to difficult.

Finally December! Premium Whiskey advent calendar from the UK. Full of classy drams.
Didn’t know what was in the other box as it didn’t list the company. Turns out it was also whiskey related.

Hand blown neat glasses from Aged & Ore. Plus their travel kit. Carl Nielsen to make the music connection.

Cheers!

ps. Will soon be back with some audio gear.

I needed a headphone stand and wanted something nice, simple, and unobtrusive:

Got it for $22 from Amazon (here).
