Miss using my 6sn7 tubes
Picked these up for a really good deal!! Super stoked. I think this will finish up my ZMF collection. I don’t think I’m going to keep/get either an Atticus or Eikon. Although I look forward to the next headphone they unleash on to the world, so until then……

A truly monstrous box showed up at the office - no wait, that’s a lie… two monstrous boxes showed up at the office, both with ‘HiFiMAN’ on the box. I quickly swooped in right before @taronlissimore was able to check out, because I know they make his favorite headphones, with EQ of course. I figured otherwise I’d never be able to listen to this, because otherwise I’m confident it would’ve been glued to his desk.
This is the HiFiMAN EF1000 tube hybrid headphone and speaker amplifier. I’ll be spending time with it over the coming weeks to put together a review.
So far, the physical look/feel of these are massive, and quite heavy. But also with a satisfyingly chunky and sturdy design. I also especially like the subtle feet on the bottom of these units. Speaking of which, the smaller unit on the left is the power supply, and the main big unit is the actual amplifier.
Anyway, as mentioned, I’ll be putting time into this with the Susvara at the studio once we get that back, but I’ll also be trying to find some good speaker pairings as well now that I’ve got some stands set up. Should be fun.

Are Hifiman doing a push to get more ears on the EF1000 currently? I saw you headphones.com has “5 in stock” (which I’m not sure if its correct) and Bloom audio has a demo model currently also.
Anyways, neat, looking forward to hear what you think.
I’ve no idea on that front, I didn’t have any contact with HFM regarding it. Just stole it from the office as usual haha.

Ahh the badge may not be communicated properly. It’s “1 in 5”. Hifiman alluded the fact that they’d be bringing 5 units total into North America and we picked up a few of them.

Please keep us informed of your experiences. I have heard different things on the direct comparison (e.g. May better unless you add M Scaler etc.). Really interested in buying the May if it is a clear winner. Have fun.
