WTS: Sennheiser HE-1 $59,000 $58,899. I don’t think Sennheiser would mind
Wow, holy shit! Very impressive!
You must have gotten a 2nd mortgage, won the lottery, or sold one of your superfluous organs for that
I think I’d be nervous to even pick up the headphones or touch the amp, though aside from the tubes the rest of it looks indestructible and eternal, like if the ancient Greeks or Romans made headphones…
If they’ll let you sell them … ping me.
That unfortunately is not true.
looks at DMS and that one picture he posted on Twitter
I think I’ve now seen pictures of 3 broken in the exact same way FWIW.
As hard as it is, Stone is very brittle.
Very cool @taronlissimore
Must put it through the synthwave playlist paces!
Hard to top the HE-1 !!! But this comes damn pretty close !
Summary
Well maybe not
It should help with the strain my new power cords cause to my outlet though.
When I first plugged them in and heard the creaking cracking come from the socket (plus the way it hangs down) I hoped there was some kind of adapter and found these from Shunyata. Seems like it should work well as long as it’s a tight enough fit. Anyone else try something like this?
Buddy you are just destroying it in the tube department. Absolutely love and envy this purchase. Some of Japan’s finest.
So pretty. Please do tell how they sound.
Yeah, I can see that
Just received a parcel from my preferred dealer
T+A Solitaire P
When I placed the order, I opted for XLR & 4.4 Pentaconn cables.
The 4.4 cable was added by T+A, and the box included a 6.3 and XLR, so now I have all 3 connectors / options
After an 18 month wait my DNA Starlett arrived today. Looking forward to listening to it a lot in the fall when the weather cools down.
Wow. That is really something. You know I can’t wait to hear what your impressions are of these. Not a lot of reviews on them.
Just turned the Starlett on and now letting it warm up. Actually, as for listening impressions, I had access to one for a month back in early 2021 and was so impressed with how the Starlett sounded with my Sennheiser HD600, HD6XX and AKG K240 Sextett’s, that I decided to order one. I waited until a year later to order a Starlett, so my initial listening impressions are from two and a half years ago. As I recall, it’s a very refined sounding amplifier that does everything well. It synergizes particularly well with higher impedance dynamic headphones like the ones mentioned above. What’s most amazing is that the Starlett uses inexpensive and readily available tubes to achieve its incredible sound quality. I think even at its $2200US price, the Starlett remains an incredible bargain for the sound quality it offers.
I’ve also heard of other Starlett owners using ZMF dynamic headphones with the Starlett with good results.
