What's in the box!

Thanks! I have been waiting so long for my Starlett and right now I’m looking over at it with its tubes glowing and I’m smiling.

Thanks @Nephilim_81
Yeah, I must admit I was surprised about the number of reviews available (or the lack thereof).
I watched everything I could find about them on Youtube, and read all the written reviews that I could find in both English and German (Let me know if you want the links - I’ll be happy to put them in a post or list).

There was also no official thread here on the Headphones Forum  so I ended up trawling through all 200 pages on the Solitaire P thread on Head-fi - There was a lot of valuable info and opinions. After that I placed the order

I have been using them most of the day and I really like what I am hearing!

What headphones are you using with it now?

Very nice! :+1:

I’m using Sennheiser HD600, HD6XX, AKG K240 Sextetts. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the Starlett sounds quite nice with lower impedance planar magnetic headphones like the Fostex T50RP MK 3, Fostex T60RP and Hifiman HE4XX.

I was trying to find a nice used pair of VOs, but couldn’t find anything I liked. Then I saw ZMF was discounting certain limited woods, so I bought a new pair of Blackwood with steel.

It’s worth it for the updated headband!

Very nice!

I also have the Blackwood (with copper), it looks really nice in person. It’s quite difficult to photograph properly to bring out the richness of the wood, it’s very tight grain and dense, hard wood. I personally like the sound too, it supposedly sharpens the attack in the transient response and “mellows” the sound less than softer woods.

I hope you enjoy them! :+1:

Curious about that weird double tube inside a tube. It looks like it’s adapted for use as a 6SN7 tube. How are you using it with the Aficionado? In the input driver position with an adapter? Or somehow as a replacement for the 5AR4 rectifier?

For real. I have a Blackwood Aeolus and still haven’t managed to photograph this wood in a way that shows how it really looks.Sometimes it’s like looking at obsidian; then a slight move in the light, and there’s the grain and slight color variation.

(beautiful wood!)

Just received a parcel from ifi’s EU Service Centre :clap:t2:

ifi Go Pod

I have connected my Sennheiser IE 900 to the included MMCX adapters, and even with my custom ear tips on the IE 900, they fit perfectly in the charging case.

(Please note that it has to be the latest version of the adapters for them to work with Sennheiser IEMs).

Thanks @Zachik

Yes, I must say that I am very impressed with them after having taken them on a couple of trips today.

They were slightly smaller than I had expected, which is super positive, and it’s just a pleasure to be able to put them on quickly and have really good sound on the go, without worrying about getting tangled in a cord

It’s a 6sn7 equivalent from Pulse tubes. I use it as the driver tube in the Aficionado with an adapter

Very interesting…I feel like I read on the old SBAF threads to avoid adapting any alternative driver tubes, but they might just be extra cautious. Have you read about others adapter tubes like the 6SN7, or even 12AU7, 6922 tubes into the Aficionado? This is getting off topic, so feel free to PM as well!

Any idea from what dates the new adapters are included?

I have a set that arrived last week (direct from iFi) but unfortunately they don’t work with the IE600, which is a shame as I think they could be my ultimate wireless set up (Go Pod + IE600 + custom tips).

No, unfortunately, and I don’t think iFi can provide a satisfactory answer either, in terms of which version one receives.

Before I ordered, I wrote to their support and asked if I could be sure to receive a set of adapters that fit my Sennheiser IEMs, and if the adapters that came in the package didn’t fit, would they then send ones that did.

In my case, their support contacted their EU Service Centre and got back to me the next day, confirming that they would indeed send a new set of adapters in such a case.

It wasn’t possible for them to tell me which version of adapters was in the sets they had in stock.
I might have expected that they would be able to tell from the serial numbers on the box, but that could be related to their distribution setup.

Agreed, it’s an absolutely brilliant device for wireless sound!

The only problem I’ve noticed is that phone calls drop out after 10 minutes as the devices go into automatic standby mode after 10 minutes. I had a long conversation yesterday where I had to start the devices and connect again four times - not ideal

I have opened a ticket with iFi and can see that they are aware of the problem.

Quick update on this - Got a swift reply from iFi Support regarding the dropped calls (Firmware 1.49):

As for the Go Pods’ latest firmware, it’s a known error with this firmware, unfortunately, however, we do expect an update extremely soon as of course this a major issue. I can only apologise for this and I assure you it’s being actively fixed.

I got Go Pod recently and actually quite enjoy them. I normally dislike most things iFi make but this one, so far, receives my thumbs up, except they are kinda pricey.

I agree, they are priced on the high side but I have to say that I think this is the best portable BT source that I have tried so far.

iFi Go POD are the first BT product that made me think we are very close to audiophiles cutting the cord.
For non-audiophiles, these would already sound as good as wired!
